Samsung's latest smartphone is a specs monster

Samsung offered a brief teaser of its upcoming Google "flagship" smartphone earlier this week. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus (previously known as the Nexus Prime) will be the standard bearer for Google's Ice Cream Sandwich mobile operating system.
 

Today, Boy Genius Report (BGR) is revealing the full specs of the Galaxy Nexus that will be unveiled next Tuesday:
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 9mm thin
  • 4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
  • TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 32GB of built-in storage
  • 5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
  • 1080p HD video capture support
  • LTE/HSPA depending on carrier
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
  • NFC
  • 1,750 mAh battery
According to BGR, the Galaxy Nexus will at least initially be tied exclusively to Verizon's wireless network. BGR also notes that since this is a Google Experience device, you won't have to worry about dealing with TouchWiz getting in the way.

1750mAh is the biggest bettery I've ever seen on any phone...as a sidenote my Nexus S can see 2 days of heavy use with a 1500mAh battery.

The EVO 3D also has a 1750 mAh. If you are conservative, you easily get over a day. I am impressed that you get that much on your nexus S - what is the normal batter pack size? 1500?

yep 1500 is standard. I have a European nexus S with a SLCD display if that matters. Heavy use was maybe an overstatement, I browse internet for maybe 30mins a day and watch about 80mins of divx, almost no phone calls.

I'd consider anything that involves the screen being on heavy use for my Motorola Milestone (aka Droid). That's pretty damn good if you get 2 days with that usage.

The Milestone's screen is terribly power draining. Even playing SNES games on it is still the screen that takes the majority of the battery life, even with brightness turned all the way down.

This is where Pentile RGBW comes into play. Brighter screens without being too much of a drain. The original Droid/ Milestone has an IPS with some really powerful backlighting. I remember having to carry an extra battery for trips longer than 10 hours just in case.

There will be quite a power draw on larger screens as well but hopefully the increased battery capacity other optimizations can let the Prime achieve decent battery life.

Surprisingly enough my Thunderbolt has been getting decent battery life before the Gingerbread update and even better (in stand by) after the update. Heavy usage still clocks me in at about 12+ hours of use while moderate to light can get 15+.

I'm looking forward to the HTC Vigor and Samsung Droid Prime, especially now that Verizon has announced a Droid Loyalty program. I don't need a new phone but it's the inner geek inside that likes new electronics...

As a standard batter yes, my extended battery for my Bionic is 2730 or 2760 :) it lasts for quite a while with games, calls, plenty of texting, browsing, and interwebs videos. I never used the regular battery in my Bionic but a buddy that got his the same day is slightly envious of mine. Sure it adds weight and bulk to the phone but it felt too thin for me without the extended, also too light. If you have the chance of getting an extended battery and you live an LTE enabled area I would highly suggest it, you can always just carry for emergencies if you don't like it or sell it later.
