Foy created his own commercial and put it online
If you
are a fan of Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 smartphone OS and have wondered why
the Microsoft media campaigns weren't going all out to show the features of the
phone, you aren't alone. Many people have felt that Microsoft could have done a
better job marketing WP7 and that perhaps the lack of quality marketing is one
of the reasons the phones haven't sold in significant numbers.
One Microsoft fan by the name of Brandon Foy took it upon himself to make a commercial to show off the features
of Windows Phone 7. Needless to say, the commercial was very well received by
fans of WP7. The commercial did so well that Microsoft promised to use the
video Foy produced in some marketing campaigns if it hit 200,000 views on
YouTube.
That mark was never reached with the video at fewer than 110,000 viewers as of
now.
However,
the silver lining for Foy was that he grabbed enough attention for himself with
the video that Microsoft hired him as a UX Designer. Foy is a graphic designer
by trade. Foy tweeted the news writing, "Awesome day! Huge thanks to everyone
who supported my #WP7 videos. Today was my first day as a UX Designer for
#MSFT!=D."
"Well, there may be a reason why they call them 'Mac' trucks! Windows machines will not be trucks." -- Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer
