Wet Seal wants to offer you some free service, phone service that is.  (Source: Wet Seal)

Meanwhile, HTC offers free flights in Germany with purchase of select handsets

In the realm of free phone deals, Android's latest one seem to keep getting stranger and stranger.  Leading the way is a hot deal by The Wet Seal, Inc. (WTSLA), which is telling the ladies to put on some pants and get a new droid in their life.

The offer is some sort of promotion for the company's new Blue Asphalt jeans lineup, which runs in sizes 00 to 15, depending on one's girth.  Customers only need to try on the pants in order to receive a redeemable coupon for a free phone.

Over 20 phone models will be available, but Wet Seal neglected to mention which ones, so some of the hardware could be the dated handsets which currently retail for $50 or so, with contract.  Speaking of contracts, the "free" phone isn't quite so free -- you'll have to enter a binding contract with one of the carrier partners.  The phones will come loaded with Wet Seal's iRunWay app, which allows people to check out outfits on their smart phones.

The offer runs, through Aug. 15, covering the hot back-to-school shopping period.  There's no word yet on whether the offer might extend to male rockers as well, but we'd prefer not to know.

In related news, Google Inc.'s (GOOG) Android operating system is also found in another strange promotion, by hardware partner HTC Corp. (TPE:2498).  In Germany, HTC is offering a free flight(within Europe only) to customers who purchase and HTC Status (aka the ChaCha), with physical keyboard, or Salsa (keyboard-less).  This promotion runs through September 30.

These phones are not currently available in the U.S., but are expected to debut with AT&T Inc. (T) later this year for $50 with contract.  Given the price, the flight offer might actually be a pretty attractive deal -- if you're European and planning to take a trip, that is.

HTC has been in the news a lot of late, thanks to its high profile legal battle with Apple, Inc. (AAPL) in the U.S., which has threatened to remove the company's product from U.S. stores.
