Swedish DRM-based music streaming service Spotify has announced that it will be offering its music services to U.S. residents starting today. 

Spotify, which launched in October 2008, provides streaming of select music from many major and independent record labels. It is available on several different operating systems such as Windows, Mac OS X, Linus, iOS, Android, webOS, Telia Digital-tv, Sonos and S60. 

Spotify is launching three types of services during its beta phase in the U.S. The first service is called "Spotify Free," which is a free service that allows users to access over 15 million songs on their computer and enjoy social features. Users can also manage music files and sync music with their phone or iPod with buffer-free access. The downside is that this service features ads, and it is also invite-only. 

The second service Spotify will offer is "Spotify Unlimited," which allows users to enjoy everything offered in the free service, but without advertisements. This service costs $4.99 per month.

The third service offered is "Spotify Premium," which gives users access to music online or offline, listen to music on many devices other than the computer, enhanced sound quality and access to special offers, competitions and other content. This service costs $9.99 per month.

These services combine music and social features, allowing friends on Spotify to exchange musical tastes and find new music. Spotify is partnering with companies like Reebok, Motorola, Sonos, The Daily, Coca Cola and Sprite to offer these services, and these brands will also release campaigns in the future.
