MacMall's eBay store has slashed $70 from the A500's price tag

It's been a while since we've post a daily deals thread on DailyTech, but this one is almost too go to let slip by. Judging by the feedback from our various tablet-centric articles on this site, many readers appeared to be enamored with Honeycomb-based tablets.

The Eee Pad Transformer hit a new "low" with an MSRP of $399 for the 16GB model. Today, MacMall is offering the Acer Iconia Tab A500 for $379 with free shipping through its eBay store. For those keeping score, the tablet has a regular MSRP of $449.

However, keep in mind the Iconia Tab A500 weighs in at 1.7 pounds which makes it 0.4 pounds heavier than the iPad 2 and 0.3 pounds heavier than the aforementioned Eee Pad Transformer. The Iconia Tab A500 is also larger dimensionally than the lackluster Motorola Xoom

For full specs on the Iconia Tab A500, check out this page.

Took it back, wasn't impressed with the build quality.

It's half the price of an iPad 2, you can't expect to get the same attention to detail.

Half the price? How do you figure? And yes, I can expect, when I can squeeze the corner and feel it push together, that's a little crappy.

Well then I consider the iPad2 to be a poor build quality cause I can do that to the iPad im holding right now.

You can 'expect' whatever you would like, it does not make it feasible.

Like it or not, the iPad is competitively priced for the components within, especially compared to pretty much all other marked up Apple products.

Notice how not a single manufacturer has released a competing product with similar build quality for the SAME price, let alone $100+ less? The 10" Galaxy Tab will most likely be the first, and its still priced exactly the same.. (which is not surprising considering it probably shares many similar components)

There is nothing wrong with these lower priced tablets, but their are of lower build quality, any way you want to put it..

I can't believe I'm saying this considering Apple is involved.. but in this case, you surely do get what you pay for..

I agree, I've been impressed by how thin they've managed to make their pads, and yet still add to the feature list. I'm getting sick and tired of people laughing at how the profile doesn't matter and stuff like that. Apple is good at what they do and love them or hate them, you can't deny that their tablets have really helped to make tablets in general mainstream.

Ass? Jerk? Rightttttttt. I just said I wasn't impressed with build quality. And that's your problem if "my" post "wasted" your time. I was making my opinion known considering I had one but I apologize for wasting your sweet precious time

How long could it actually take you to read one sentence?

Maybe he's a slow reader...

But it definitely took much longer to read his much more pointless brag. Figure that out...

Also, I paid 459, which is the normal price, and that is not cheap in anyway, maybe it is to you since it's not Apple.
