Google Health will compete with Yahoo's health portal and Kosmix

Many unconfirmed rumors have been floating around about the potential launch date of the Google Health search engine.  A USA Today blog entry points out that Google's Marissa May mentioned that Google Health could be launched in the near future -- possibly as early as Wednesday of next week.  One of Google's biggest rivals, Yahoo, already has a fairly efficient health search portal.  The USA Today blog reports:

Marissa Mayer, Google's VP of search products and user experience, came to USA TODAY on Tuesday. She mentioned that there would be a couple of big announcements next Wednesday at the annual Google Press Day -- which I will attend, along with my colleague Jefferson Graham.

If you're wanting to give Google Health a quick try before it is officially launched, click here -- though we should warn you that Google has been taking the feature on and off.  While the search matches for Google Health differ from normal Google, occasionally the optimized search does not display. The new search engine is designed to help bring back more refined medical related search results.  I personally like the Kosmix Health Search engine, so I want to see big things from Google Health.
