Boutique computer maker iBuyPower has announced
the latest addition to its gaming desktop line. The new computer is called the Erebus and it is highly
customizable with a variety of options for RAM, processor, and storage among
other things.
The entry-level machine starts at $1,249, and has
an Intel Core i5-2400 processor and a liquid cooling system inside. It also features
4GB of RAM, GTX 550Ti graphics, 500GB of storage, and Windows 7 Home Premium.
The Erebus line gets much more expensive from that starting point, as most
customizable gaming machines are prone to do.
The high end Erebus-V3 gaming desktop has an Intel
Core i7-990X Extreme processor, a custom liquid cooling system with six 120mm
fans. The mainboard is a liquid cooled Rampage III extreme from Asus and the PC
has 12GB of RAM. Graphics is via a trio of GTX 580 Superclocked video cards.
The rig also has dual 96GB SSDs for storage and a 2TB HDD for main storage.
Rounding out the features is a Blu-ray drive. That high-end machine
starts at $6,899.
“After two years of hard work and we are proud to
unveil this ground breaking system.” said Darren Su, Executive Vice President
of iBUYPOWER. “Erebus’ custom built liquid cooling system will allow
gamers to push the overclocking envelope, delivering unparalleled performance
and creating the ultimate gaming experience.”
