Tablets will probably be around forever now, if simply because Jobs will still be selling them.

But the fact of the matter is that they're totally redundant if you already have a lptop - which can do everything a tablet can...better...and do everything a tablet can't.

Imagine someone wanting to sell you a 2nd stove, that was just a weency bit smaller than your existing one...but it just has one burner on it, instead of 4 burners and an oven like your existing stove. You know...for those times when you just need one burner.

...duh. winning.

Its called a portable camp stove:

You know, for those times when you just need one burner... in the middle of the woods.

That's a horrifically bad example.

A camp stove is, what, 90% smaller than a kitchen stove?

...now, exactly now much smaller is a tablet than a small laptop, or netbook? Answer: almost no difference at all. Effectively, they are the same size. One of them is very limited in use...the other can do essentially anything.

Try to be less ridiculous with your comparisons next time.

Ha! I'd like to see you pack one of those on your back for a week-long hiking trip ;)

Awesome.

Duh... you Sheen statement fits you.

As the other poster said about "portable stove", was a good example.

I have an iPad and I have a ThinkPad notebook with Windows7.
They have their functions and abilities.

My quad core desktop and ThinkPad CANNOT power up into the OS in a second. I cannot leave my Thinkpad in sleep mode for 1-2 days at a time. My Thinkpad is about 6lbs... not exactly a FUN thing to handle when kicking it back on the couch watching TV.... Much less my 24" LCD and desktop.

Tablet computers HAVE a place and they *DO* it well.

Try handling your notebook like you would a book... not going to happen.

No - it's a catastrophically bad example, as noted above.

Your Problem with not being able to leave your PC in sleep mode for 1-2 days and not powering on in a second is a Microsoft problem , not a hardware problem ... Check out Ubuntu Linux, It does Both and is free!!!
