SSD has 115GB of storage
The number of SSDs that are hitting the market continue to grow each day. This is a good thing too, the more SSDs and makers of SSDs there are the more competition and the lower prices will go. At the same time, more competition means more innovation to lure in customers as well.
G.Skill has announced its latest SSD storage drive called the
Phoenix EVO SSD
. The drive uses a SandForce SF-1222 controller and 2xnm NAND flash chips. That means that the drive is speedy and has nice storage capacity as well. The EVO has storage capacity of 115GB, read speed of 280MB/s, write speed of 270MB/s, and will land at authorized dealers this month.
Phoenix notes that it moved from 3xnm to 2xnm chips to improve speed and performance of its drives and to guarantee top reliability and stability. The SSD has a 3-year warranty and the NAND chips are selected from key suppliers for reliability and performance.
“The performance benchmark of G.Skill Phoenix EVO is listed on G.Skill official website. With the information transparency, consumers can easily choose the right product according to their desire and budget,” said Wales Tsai, the G.Skill SSD product manager.

While this seems intuitive it may not be the case. Currently there is a flash memory shortage, with more demand you drive up the prices and with more smaller players you don't have the volume buying power in the chip market because they are both consuming chips AND taking sales of SSDs from the larger chip customers.
Granted this would be true only so long as there is a sufficient # of major players competing against each other which does seem to be the situation at present.
We don't need more SSD manufacturers though, we need more flash chip manufacturers!
