Dell is becoming quite a force to be reckoned with in the LCD monitor market
Dell showed off its answer to Apple's 30" LCD at CES and wows the crowds with features not found elsewhere. Called the 3007WFP, Dell's answer to Apple's 30" not only delivers in features and performance, it comes in $300 less than Apple's best offering.
At first glance, the two seem to be identical, offering the same 2560x1600 resolution. However, examining the specs more closely reveals that Dell has not only matched its competitor, it has exceeded Apple and offers customers better performance for less money. To compare:
- 178 degree viewing angle on the Dell vs. 170 on the Apple
- 700:1 contrast ratio on the Dell vs. 400:1 on the Apple
- 300 cd/m2 light output on the Dell vs. 270 cd/m2 on the Apple
- 14ms pixel response time on the Dell vs. 16ms on the Apple
Dell's 3007WFP also offers 9-in-2 media card slots to accept anything from CompactFlash to MemoryStick and SD cards. Finally for those concerned with appearance, the 3007WFP is no slouch on looks either -- although this department remains up to the tastes of the customer.
"It looks like the iPhone 4 might be their Vista, and I'm okay with that." -- Microsoft COO Kevin Turner
