Android-powered device will support a detachable keyboard
some early glimpses
of ASUS' Eee Pad tablets back in December, which were then followed up by an
official unveiling of four devices at CES
one of those devices, the ASUS Transformer, is seeing the light of day -- ahead of schedule, no less.
reports that the Transformer will be released in Taiwan March 25, when pre-orders will begin at 8 a.m.
The 10.1-inch, Android-powered tablet sports a Tegra 2 processor, 1 GB DDR2,
and will come in both 16GB and 32GB storage capacities. What sets it apart from other tablets, though, is the detachable keyboard.
ASUS will demonstrate how the keyboard will work with Android's Honeycomb OS on Friday. Meanwhile, the price has been figured at somewhere between $400 and $700.
The Phonehouse in Spain
is reportedly listing the Tranformer at
399€, or approximately $560, without the keyboard.

i want an ep121 as well. except they're out of stock until mid april. :(
from all the videos and reviews i've seen, it blows away every android slates including ipad 2 and hp slate 500.
it has a wacom digitalizer with multi levels of pressure. it's like having an un-attached/mobile cintiq!
the only weak point i can find is it's not equipped with a sandy bridge i5 cpu. :(

Sandy Bridge ep121 is what I'm waiting for too.
The GPU improvements are the main thing I'm looking forward to, if it is anything like the desktop versions it might be comparable to the dedicated graphics of my tm2, that would be quite a hit.
I guess it should also improve battery life some.
But if a tm2 refresh with a decent screen or a lenovo x220 tablet with dedicated gpu comes earlier, I'll get that instead. Sorry ASUS, but I can't keep waiting for you forever.
