Apple just announced
its iPad 2 yesterday, and today the company is providing the finalized
version of iOS 4.3 to developers to prepare for its March 11 rollout. IOS 4.3
will be made available for the iPhone 3GS/iPhone 4 (GSM), iPod touch 3G/iPod
touch 4G, and iPad/iPad 2. Users of the CDMA
version of the iPhone 4 will have to wait a bit longer for the update.
IOS 4.3 bring a number of new features including:
- GSM-based iPhones will get the 5-device Wi-Fi Personal
Hotspot functionality that was added for CDMA iPhone 4s.
- Improved AirPlay functionality (third-party apps
can support AirPlay) opens up over-the-air multimedia streaming from your iOS
devices to your HDTV. AirPlay will also allow you to stream pics/movies from
the Photos app.
- Mobile Safari performance has been improved with
a new Nitro JavaScript engine (up to 2x performance increase).
- ITunes Home Sharing allows you to share your
entire iTunes Library (Mac or PC) to any iOS device wirelessly.
- The ability to use the switch on the side of the iPad to change toggle orientation lock or as a mute switch.
Developers can grab iOS 4.3 Gold Master here. Everyone
else will have to wait until March 11 or search torrent sites for the ISPW
file.
