Still some speculation iPad follow-up may be delayed until June
According
to a Reuters source, the Apple iPad 2 is expected to launch March 2,
despite speculation that the release of the tablet may be delayed to June.
A source told Reuters that Apple is
planning a release schedule similar to the first iPad, which went on sale April
2010. Apple is slated to host an event March 2, where another source says the
company will unveil the new iteration of the popular tablet.
But, according to a Yuanta
Securities note, the next version would come out two months later than
the original iPad because component makers were forced to alter their
production processes after Apple
made changes to the design.
In other
tablet news, it appears that Verizon will be charging new Motorola Xoom and
Galaxy Tab users their first month's data charges at activation. This policy
will of course have no effect on Wi-Fi-only models.
