Star Wars ride at Disneyland  (Source: SlashFilm)
Disneyland tweaks Star Wars ride for 3D fun

Star Wars is one of the most popular science fiction franchises ever created and goes back to the days of many geeks' youth. The newer flicks are not as cool by some standards as the original trilogy, but they are still really cool.

A while back, it was announced that the Star Wars franchise would be coming to Blu-ray for the first time in September of 2011. We didn't get an exact launch date for the flicks when they were first announced, but that official date has now surfaced. LucasFilm has announced that September 27, 2011 is the day the Blu-ray versions of all of the Star Wars films will hit stores. The flicks will sell like crazy.

SlashFilm also reports that work is underway at the Disneyland Resort that will see the Star Tours: The Adventure Continues ride get a 3D update with some new action and characters. The ride is set after the events of Revenge of the Sith and before the first of the original trilogy.

Riders will get to see characters from the original trilogy and the new films during the ride and C-3PO will be at the controls of the virtual spaceship the passengers are in on the ride. The new attraction will also take its riders to different parts of the Star Wars universe for the first time. I now know where my summer vacation will be.

One of the action sequences in the attraction will have the riders chased by Boba Fett with Admiral Ackbar communicating with the ride via hologram. Disney will not confirm or deny many of the details about where the ride will take people in the Star Wars universe.

RE: Episodes 1 - 3

Episodes 1 - 3 are not as bad as everyone thinks. They were written to pull in a new demographic of people. 30 and 40 year old adults do not go to movies nearly as much as kids and teenagers do. George targeted 8 to 12 year old kids with the new movies. Based on that fact the movies were perfectly balanced.

Your argument that the ep1 is good is that it was written for 8-12 year olds? So basically you are agreeing that it sucks, and is just a "kids movie."

But I have watched "kids movies," and they are bad even by those standards. Just because a movie is for kids does not mean the acting can be terrible. The reason the acting is terrible, incidentally, is not because it was made for kids, but because Lucas has a secrecy fetish and didn't release scripts until the day of acting. Guess what, actors can't act that well without a little practice!

Every Harry Potter movie (kids movies, at least 1-3) is vastly superior to eps 1-3, and a lot of those movies are pretty bad. Hell, the latest installment of iCarly has better acting than ep1!
