Star Wars ride at Disneyland  (Source: SlashFilm)
Disneyland tweaks Star Wars ride for 3D fun

Star Wars is one of the most popular science fiction franchises ever created and goes back to the days of many geeks' youth. The newer flicks are not as cool by some standards as the original trilogy, but they are still really cool.

A while back, it was announced that the Star Wars franchise would be coming to Blu-ray for the first time in September of 2011. We didn't get an exact launch date for the flicks when they were first announced, but that official date has now surfaced. LucasFilm has announced that September 27, 2011 is the day the Blu-ray versions of all of the Star Wars films will hit stores. The flicks will sell like crazy.

SlashFilm also reports that work is underway at the Disneyland Resort that will see the Star Tours: The Adventure Continues ride get a 3D update with some new action and characters. The ride is set after the events of Revenge of the Sith and before the first of the original trilogy.

Riders will get to see characters from the original trilogy and the new films during the ride and C-3PO will be at the controls of the virtual spaceship the passengers are in on the ride. The new attraction will also take its riders to different parts of the Star Wars universe for the first time. I now know where my summer vacation will be.

One of the action sequences in the attraction will have the riders chased by Boba Fett with Admiral Ackbar communicating with the ride via hologram. Disney will not confirm or deny many of the details about where the ride will take people in the Star Wars universe.

No, the standard that holds that the "newer flicks" are not as cool as the old one also holds that they not "still really cool." The new movies are horribly written with wooden acting and annoying animated character(s). The one "love story" in the three episodes is between two characters with zero chemistry.

By far the best movie of all the 6 is Empire. The other two originals are so-so in comparison. But eps 1-3 are just bad.

I realize that what I've written here is simply my opinion, and I don't begrudge you your own. But, to dismiss those who were massively disappointed in the duds that were episodes 1-3 with the comment that the movies are "still really cool" is a bit insulting. The complaint is not that they are "really cool" but "not cool enough." The complaint is that the movies are actively bad.

Agreed. The prequals were horribly acted, compared to the original trilogy. Personally, my favorite Star Wars film is Return of the Jedi, but that's just me. Ever since the inclusion of CGI in films, acting has taken a hellish turn for the worst. Granted, there are a few films, (namely Avatar and Jurassic Park) that we stand-outs, but other than that, just so-so ho-hum acting from actors. Let's go back to 80's films, since they didn't have IL&M at the time, and see the difference in acting then. The difference is like night and day.

That's what happens when you go cheap and move production and casting out of the UK, and go down-under. Yes, I'm from the UK, but I have always felt that part of what made the original Star Wars films seem as good as they were was down to the quality supporting cast, as well as getting lucky with casting Harrison Ford as Han.

it doesn't matter if you don't like the prequels. They weren't meant for you. Lucas recruited a new generation of Star Wars fans, who eagerly buy up Clone Wars toys and video games. He's the richest man in Hollywood not from ticket sales, but from merchandising.

If you were 6 years old when you saw Episode 1, you'd be cheering for Jar Jar right now.

I don't know I thought the third one the revenge of the sith was a good one that could stand with 4,5, and 6.

I will agree that ep3 is the best of 1-3. Just as ep2 was better than ep1. But it's not saying much.

How about: let's hide the kids where the sith will never look for them. Let's give one to the leading rebellious senator and one to their only relative alive (other than Vader), the step-grandfather. That'll show the sith.

Also, as angry as Anakin becomes, I don't really buy him murdering "younglings" (the most retarded term, btw).

"He was seen, killing younglings!"

And the one that condenses all the lameness in episodes 1-3 into a single word: "NOOOOOOOOO!!!"

And the one that condenses all the lameness in episodes 1-3 into a single word: "NOOOOOOOOO!!!"

I cringed when I heard it in the movie, and now, again.

"The person I was just trying to kill, is dead??!"
