The solid state drive market is heating up, and enthusiast companies
like OCZ and Corsair are broadening their lineups with new product offerings.
Today, we had a chance to get a brief glimpse at what Corsair has in store for
its next generation of SSDs.
The latest SSD range is called the Performance
3 series (a nod to the SATA III interface) and all that you need to know as
that these SSDs will scream. The new SSDs will be based on the Marvell 9174
controller and have full support for TRIM and background garbage collection.
When it comes to performance, Corsair says that its
combination of carefully selected NAND, the Marvell 9174 controller, and native
6Gbps SATA will allow these SSDs to reach read speeds of up to 480MB/sec and
write speeds of 320MB/sec (256GB model). For comparison, Micron's RealSSD C400 announced yesterday features read/write speeds of 415MB/sec
and 260MB/sec respectively.
The 128GB and 64GB models have lower performance with
ratings of 410/210 and 365/110 respectively.
We’ll get you information on pricing and availability as
