Motorola shows off yet another Android device

Verizon seems to be on a roll these days when it comes to Android smartphones. Yesterday, we saw the launch of both the Droid Pro (with a built-in QWERTY keyboard) and the Continuum (with a "secondary" display). Today, Verizon is ushering out another offering from Motorola: the Droid 2 Global.

The Droid 2 Global improves upon the standard Droid 2 by incorporated a 1.2GHz processor, quad-band GSM, and tri-band UMTS. As result, the Droid 2 Global lives up to its namesake as it can practically be used anywhere in the world.

Other features include a 3.7" display (854x480), 5mp camera with dual-LED flash, and 16GB of storage (8GB from internal storage, 8GB via an included microSD card).

The smartphone will be available in Winter White and Dark Sapphire, and retails for $199 after a $100 mail-in rebate.

In other news, Samsung is reporting that it has shipped over 3 million Galaxy S smartphones. "We're in a situation where we wish we had more supply," said Samsung CMO Paul Golden to Reuters.

I'm running 2.2 on mine. Sure, it took a little effort on my part and it isn't AT&T official.

If I really cared about either of those I'd have an Iphone4.

Unlimited tethering, HSDPA uploads (which it appears AT&T went out of their way to disable so the Iphone would be the only flagship device with > 1mbps upload), enabled unknown source installs, and a myriad of other things that AT&T chose to enhance (translated cripple).

If you're comfortable with linux, command line, etc I'd strongly recommend a little research and you'll like the phone even more.
