Mad Men is available on the Canadia streaming service
Stream me some Netflix you hoser
Netflix streaming service has been finding its way into numerous devices over the last year. Today you can stream Netflix content directly to TVs, Blu-ray players, and game consoles. As Netflix looks to continue its growth and the march to streaming more content, it is rolling its streaming service out to other countries.
Netflix has announced that it is now offering its
streaming service in Canada
. The streaming service will cost $7.99 monthly in Canada and will let users stream unlimited movies and TV shows over the web to their TVs and computers. The launch of the service in Canada is the first time streaming has been offered outside America.
"With our launch today in Canada, Netflix is focused on adding meaningfully to the entertainment choices available to Canadian consumers," said the company's co-founder and CEO, Reed Hastings, who was in Toronto for the inauguration of the service. "Convenience, selection and value are at the heart of the Netflix service, and it is our hope that this resonates with Canadians."
Netflix has announced licensing agreements for Canada with Lionsgate, MGM Studios, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Universal Pictures. Netflix also has agreements in place for streaming programming from Canadian studios including Alliance Films, Maple Pictures, eOne and Mongrel.
The content agreements mean that users can stream films like "Superbad", "All About Steve" and more. Streaming TV content will include shows like "Running Wilde" which will be offered in streaming format in Canada the same day the show airs for the first time in the States. Prior seasons of "Mad Men" and other TV shows are available as well. The programming will be in English only, but Netflix plans to add French support later.
As streaming rolls out to other countries, this is good news for the video hosting sites that work with Netflix and other streaming content partners. These companies are facing slipping profits and are looking to
HD video streaming
to increase their bottom line.

Does Netflix Canada have any cartoons/kids shows to stream? My wife is pestering me to get a fucking TV for my son, I'm almost gave up and caved in but this is a breeze of hope, I thought this freaking peripheral village noone knows about called Canada would never get any fucking IP TV at all. Whew. No Hulu anyway... so noone still knows what Canada (Canadia?) is and where the heck in the woods is it located. Some progress, but not much... yet
