Yes, it finally has Wi-Fi

It's hard to believe that it's been nearly five years since the original Xbox 360 launched. The Xbox 360 hit the market a year ahead of the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3 and continues to do quite well in the marketplace. Thanks to a relatively healthy stable library of exclusive games and the second-to-none Xbox Live gaming service, gamers keep coming back for more despite years of RROD issues.

Over the years, the Xbox 360 has gone through a number of hardware changes. Advances in manufacturing technologies for GPU and CPU have resulted in smaller, cooler running chips; and HDMI output has made its way to the console. Storage capacities have been bumped, new colors have been added, and special editions have announced.

However, the basic design of the console has remained the same -- until now. Today at E3, Microsoft unveiled a new look for the Xbox 360.

The new Xbox 360 is smaller, sleeker, quieter and comes with an integrated 250GB hard drive (removable) and five USB ports (two in the front, three in the back). And yes folks, it FINALLY has built-in Wi-Fi (802.11n). It will be priced at $299 and will be in stores later this week.

According to Engadget, the current Xbox 360 Elite will drop down to $249 while the Xbox 360 Arcade will fall to $149.

In other Xbox 360 news, Microsoft today officially announced the Kinect accessory which captures full body motion for immersive gaming.

Wow, 2 years after you bought it. That's pretty amazing. Much better than the 1 month I got out of my 360. Or the 1 month out of my 2nd 360. Or the 3 months out of my 3rd 360. I'm currently on my 4th and 6th 360. I sold off my 5th 360, when I bought a 250 gig FFXIII 360.

Wait you are on your 6th (12345...6) 360?

I still only have an original Xbox, I held off for a long time with the 360 because of horror stories (like yours)...I didn't want to deal with the RROD crap - I have very low tolerance for that kind of stuff when I'm dropping several hundreds of dollars on a product.

I don't know whether to admire your disclipline in keeping on MS to constantly repair your 360 or if I should make fun of you for being so obsessed with playing your 360 games that you keep dumping cash on the console that keeps failing you....

Me I would have given up and just sold off my games and washed my hands of it...

I will need to think some more and hear more reviews of the new 360 , but "maybe" I'll grab one...finally...

No he's on his 4th (if that makes the situation any better).

Apparently he bought anonther (fifth) then sold it to buy his sixth.

FWIW, we have two and never an issue with either. I don't use mine that often, but the kids get plenty of use out of thiers.

My 4th, 5th, and 6th 360s are based off of Jasper and they seem to be doing well. I got rid of my 5th 360, as I wanted the 250 gig 360. So I'm now running my 4th 360 (Japanese version) and 6th 360 (US version).

Also, I have yet to try to contact MS on repair. I just go out and buy a whole new console. I still have the other 360s, which I'm modding and will be fixing the RROD issue.

My two PS3s from release are humming along fine.
