Steve Jobs' "magical" device continues to sell well

Many people weren't sure what to make of the Apple iPad when it was introduced by Steve Jobs in January. The iPad was meant to dive into a market that has largely failed to gain traction due to the use of Windows-based tablets and convertible notebooks that were never built from the ground up for touch-based input.

However, Jobs must be grinning all the way to the bank because his "magical" iPad has indeed found an audience and is continuing to burn up the sales charts. Apple sold 300,000 Wi-Fi-only iPads on launch day, 450,000 by the first week, and 500,000 within two weeks of launch.

Now that the iPad 3G is finally shipping, Apple has seen another uptick in sales for its latest iPhone OS device. Apple is now touting that it has sold one million iPads in just 28 days on the market.

“One million iPads in 28 days—that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone,” said Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

Apple also made it known that over 1.5 million eBooks have been downloaded from iBookStore and over 12 million apps have been downloaded by iPad users from the App Store.

Jobs continued, throwing in a but more praise on his "magical" tablet. “Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.”

Apple's iPad starts at $499 for a 16GB Wi-Fi model and tops out at $829 for a 64GB model with 3G connectivity.

Yea, that's right comparing buying iPad to buring 20 purses ....

Oh wait, you let your wife buy it? ..... Take responsibility for your actions. Don't blame others.

Again, it's not the matter or lower prices or free. What matters is the user experience. If the user is satisfied with their product, then it's done its job. Google is more than happy to market their phone better ...... you know, like hire people. It's their failure.

Stop explaining their failure with your lame excuses.

Again, you keep saying think outside the box, but it's is no different than buying cars.

When are consumer buys a car, it doesn't always have to be the best car with the best performance with the best look, etc .....
According to this lame theory, people would only buy the best car for its class, while the rest should make 0 profit.

The bottom line every part of the business has to run successfully to be truly successful.

Apple does it the best, while the rest are not. The Apple's product is crappy, there's no doubt in my mind people will flock elsewhere. Just like when AMD made better chips than INTEL few years ago. It was well documented how the market shifted during that time.

Stop being a hater and accept reality. It's pretty obvious you are highly biased since you haven't said single thing good about Apple's product. Right, everything they did is so horrible and no one should dared to use it ......

Like no one should buy Windows and everyone to install Centos ......

Just grow up.

Actually it was the other way around. It was well documented how intel abused their marketshare to make sure AMD didn't get the increase in marketshare they would have otherwise.

Sounds like you're being the "hater" of anyone else with a negative opinion about Apple. Another word for that might be fanboy.

You're doing a poor job convincing us. Probably for two reasons:

1. You've said nothing compelling.
2. You don't seem to understand that many of us simply aren't part of the target audience for the iPad.

My question to you is, why can't you just shut up and enjoy your Apple douchebaggery in elitist silence? If you're iPad is so awesome, why do you care so deeply what we bourgeois retards think? Why must we either laud your choice of device or be assaulted by bat shit crazy Apple enthusiasts?

It's a freakin' iPad. Get over yourself.
