The Droid Incredible will launch later this month

We've been talking about the HTC Incredible for quite some time now, but it appears that the long wait is about to end. The Android junkies over at Phandroid have uncovered a staging site for the HTC Incredible, which is now known as the Droid Incredible.

The site allows you to enter your email address and receive more information on the phone and its availability. The site also notes that the phone is coming April 29.

The Droid Incredible will pack quite a punch when it launches later this month. The smartphone will feature a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 8GB of internal storage (plus a microSD slot for extra storage), an 8MP camera, 3.7-inch AMOLED display (480x800) and will of course come preloaded with Android 2.1.

HTC, the maker of the Droid Incredible, is reportedly in the running to purchase Palm. An acquisition of Palm would give HTC the rights to webOS which could make for some truly powerful smartphones in the future – HTC's hardware prowess and the innovative webOS software platform would be an extremely tough adversary for Apple's headline-grabbing iPhone.

Verizon has just made the Droid Incredible official. The device will be priced at $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. The Droid Incredible can be pre-ordered online starting April 19. You can catch the full press release here.

I currently carry an iphone, but working with other companies I have had Android and Palm in my pocket alongside the iPhone. From a usability standpoint the WebOS is by far the best. I really miss its contact management system. Android was second in regards to contact management. The only thing that my iPhone does significantly better, is display webpages. Granted it can't show all webpages, but the way it scales the page to the screen and intuitively zooms in beats out the other two. That said, I am looking to replace my iPhone and if HTC made a WebOS based phone, I would probably buy it in a heartbeat. If HTC buys Palm, I cannot see them abandoning their Android and Windows lines, but it does make sense for them make generic hardware that would allow them to install any of the OSes on the certain phones.
