Is AT&T prepared for the deluge?

We all know that AT&T leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to call quality. This is the company that thinks 30% dropped calls in New York City is normal. In fact, in a recent Consumer Reports survey AT&T ranked dead last, and as an AT&T user I can tell you that is rightfully so.

My iPhone drops calls numerous times each day. My neighbor using a Blackberry on Verizon drops no calls, ever. AT&T has launched  a new app for the iPhone that lets users tell it where it sucks. All I can say is that I hope AT&T has a server with lots of storage space because near as I can tell the service sucks everywhere.

The app is called Mark the Spot and allows you to send the exact location where you had bad data speeds, dropped calls, or other issue with the network. I have to wonder if the app will have an impact on the battery rife, it runs constantly reports Gizmodo. I am thinking a more efficient method may be to borrow that map that Verizon uses to show its 3G coverage area, change it to say places AT&T drops calls and work from that. I'm sure they'd say the same about Verizon if it had nearly the same amount of stories about dropped call rates, frivolous lawsuits regarding commercials and poor customer satisfaction rates.
