WD Doubles WD Raptor Capacity To 150 GB

Western Digital ratchets up performance and storage capacicty with its latest Raptor.
Western Digital has developed quite a following in the enthusiast community with its first and second generation Raptor hard drives. The next generation Raptor was announced today with a storage capacity of 150GB. The new drive shares the same 10,000 RPM spindle speed and average seek time of 4.6 ms with its predecessors while also offering up 16MB of cache and a native SATA-150 interface (instead of a PATA to SATA bridge) with NCQ.

Of course maybe they will update the 74gig version and also reduce the price.
I still can;t believe no one else is offering a 10K Sata hard drive yet. They juts keep making them bigger. OK, I don't need 400gigs of storage space for my ahh work files yea thats it works files... I have a girl friend. :)
Right now I have a Maxtor 15K scsi hard drive (36gig) for boot and a 120gig for burning movies, music, games, etc...

WD got out of the high end SCSI market. That is why they concentrated thier high performance on SATA.
Seagate Maxtor (quantom) and all the others have thier high margin drives on SCSI, no need for them to invest in anything different. WD found a niche and cashed in. =)

Maaan, having a cheaper version of this in a smaller capacity would be the best thing ever. No one needs 150 Gb for a boot/games drive, and if I could RAID a pair of smaller drives with updated performance...
Also, why is WD so slow to update the Raptor? (no Sata 2, etc) There's a new Caviar model like every other month... I guess us DIYers get the shaft since we're only a small bit of the market but still... WD should show us more love. Just... because. It's good karma, maybe.
