Google will let 100,000 users get an early look at Wave

Computer users are bombarded with different ways to stay connected to day from email to Twitter and other social networking sites. The only difference between many of the methods used to stay in touch online is the name attached to the service.

Google announced in May its new service called Google Wave that is trying to be a collaborative service combining features of email and chat with social networking. Wave is a collaborative environment where a user can create a document and then add people to the "wave" who can then directly contribute and modify the document. The Wave service has many other features as well.

At the time Google announced Wave it didn’t offer a time frame on when it would be offering Wave to users. Google has now announced that it will start a beta of the Wave service on September 30 that will allow 100,000 users into the beta offering.

If you are simply starving for the full details of the service, you can watch a video lasting over an hour at Engadget detailing Wave. You can sign up in hopes of being one of the 100,000 Wave converts here.

It's the same video from the article, I just posted the source. RTFA?

Sit down and watch. There's some wasted time in there, but the demonstration takes that long because it's so full of features.

Like the OP said, this is Web 3.0. I'm extraordinarily excited about the possibilities. Email, IM, blogging, study-groups, meeting notes, collaborative documentation, etc... all converging into one place in an intuitive manner. It's so much more than anything we've seen before.

Nice title...

Just glancing at this blog post title made me think that the software was already broken. For someone hearing about this project for the first time, perhaps "crashing" isn't the best word?

Was thinking the exact same thing...
