Capcom shares a wealth of gaming goodness with lucky handheld gamers

Dust of your shotgun and steady your hands, master of unlocking, for Capcom has just announced the release of nearly a dozen of its classic titles for the upcoming PSP Go.  The PSP Go, a new handheld from Sony ditches the UMD format, in favor of downloads from the Playstation Store.

Rather than leave PSP Go owners alone in the dark, Capcom is seizing on the opportunity to resell many of its classics for the new platform.  It has announced that it will soon be posting a variety of previously released PSP titles --Capcom Classics Collection Remixed, Mega Man Powered Up, Power Stone Collection, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, and Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded -- as well as offering new PSP ports of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and Dino Crisis, previously released on the PS1.

For those wondering, the original Resident Evil is already available on the Playstation Network for the PSP Go.  That game is also currently offered for the Nintendo DS as Resident Evil: Deadly Silence, a commemorative edition that features both classic gameplay and a revamped mode with touch screen puzzles.  The title also was ported to the Gamecube with dramatically improved graphics and sound.  The Gamecube version is being ported to the Wii to take advantage of the Wii's unique control scheme.

The first of the Capcom titles were posted last Friday, and they should all be there shortly.  While many of these titles have seen releases on scores of platforms, they remain classics to the industry and are worthy of note.

wow that are some ugly games
why are they bothering with 3d on a device that lacks the resolution to show enough details to make it worth it?
when i first read the title, i got confused thinking of the "Cadillacs and Dinosaurs" game, also by capcom, instead of dino crisis, but then i was disappointed.
speaking of which, is there a good Mame implementation on the psp yet?

I am not buying. I have the PS1 versions, the Dreamcast ports, & the remade versions on the Gamecube. I want to see a new RE game made for the PSP. I would rather Sony open up PSN to all the previous console generations(Nintendo aside)like Turbo graph 16, Neo Geo & stuff like that. Sony should try to make a PSP virtual console or something. The PS1 games just look horrible to me today, & I would rather see sprite based side scrolling games of the past consoles.
