A new SATA adapter for the XBOX 360's hard drive allows interfacing with PC

Engadget is reporting on an XBOX 360 SATA hard drive adapter being mass produced and sold for a mere $15. The adapter allows one to connect the optional external hard drive for Microsoft's latest gaming console to a PC to download data off of it such as save game information and other data.

The 360Sata adapter does not have an attractive package or an exotic or creative name, but it does what it is supposed to do -- interface the XBOX 360 hard disk drive to a PC. The 360Sata adapter is basically a single sided PCB with a Sata port and 4-pin Molex power port on the long side and an interface that plugs into the XBOX 360's hard drive.

Currently there isn't much users can do except download save game information with the Xplorer360 utility or peek at whatever else is on the hard drive. The demand for the 360Sata adapter is much higher than the supply at this time, but the manufacturer has stated that the hardware is in full production and those who have placed an order will receive the product sooner than later. The adapter can be purchased directly from 360Sata.com for $15 plus shipping costs and is currently on pre-order due to the lack of supply.
