Acer America released a statement today
touting its performance in the North American standalone LCD display
market. According to market numbers courtesy of DisplaySearch, the
company showed a 28% increase in shipments from Q3 to Q4 2005 and a
129% increase when comparing Q4 2005 to Q4 2004. The company far
outpaced the industry's average growth rate of 11% and 42%
respectively.
Acer's overall ranking in the North American LCD market is third -- this is a vast improvement from their eighteenth place ranking in 2004. Its share of North American standalone LCD
shipments rang in at 6%. It was followed by Samsung, Viewsonic and
NEC with 4.6%, 3.9%, and 3.1% respectively.
"Acer has seen explosive growth in
its shipments into North America during the past two years,"
said Chris Connery, vice president of market research at
DisplaySearch. "With its worldwide strategy, aggressive pricing
and channel approach and strong brand recognition, it seems well
positioned to continue its strong growth in North America."
