Acer sees a 129% increase from Q4'04 to Q4'05

Acer America released a statement today touting its performance in the North American standalone LCD display market. According to market numbers courtesy of DisplaySearch, the company showed a 28% increase in shipments from Q3 to Q4 2005 and a 129% increase when comparing Q4 2005 to Q4 2004. The company far outpaced the industry's average growth rate of 11% and 42% respectively.

Acer's overall ranking in the North American LCD market is third -- this is a vast improvement from their eighteenth place ranking in 2004. Its share of North American standalone LCD shipments rang in at 6%. It was followed by Samsung, Viewsonic and NEC with 4.6%, 3.9%, and 3.1% respectively.

"Acer has seen explosive growth in its shipments into North America during the past two years," said Chris Connery, vice president of market research at DisplaySearch. "With its worldwide strategy, aggressive pricing and channel approach and strong brand recognition, it seems well positioned to continue its strong growth in North America."

I decided to buy an Acer over a year ago for my move to college and I have never regretted it. I needed an LCD with all the inputs, and I found a nice 17" with SVGA so I could hook up my PS2 and play in my room. The best monitor I have ever had and I can't wait to one day upgrade for a nicer widescreen model and I will likely stick with Acer because they have taken care of me so far.

i thought acer/benq LCDs only have 18-bit colour? that is why i went with a viewsonic (VA 902) instead, it was on sale for the same price as two models from acer.
