New pro graphics card supports quad 1920 x 1200 LCDs
AMD has announced its latest professional ATI video card called the ATI FirePro 2450 multi-view. The card is a low profile, half-length graphics card that offers support for four monitors. The video card can support four different DVI or VGA monitors via dual VHDCI connectors and included breakout cables and adapters.
The card has a total of 512MB of GDDR3 memory and is a native PCI Express x16 unit. Support for DirectX 10.1 and PCI Express 2.0 is built-in. ATI says that the card consumes a maximum of 32W at full load and an average of 17W for 2D business usage. The quad monitors can be ran at a resolution of 1920 x 1200 each, making native 24-inch LCD resolution possible.
AMDs Janet Matsuda said in a statement, "The ATI FirePro 2450 offers the reliability professionals expect and the efficiency IT departments require. IT managers want a card they can test once, deploy virtually anywhere, and count on to run reliably. The low power consumption enables cool, energy-efficient operation, as well as superior reliability and longevity. The compact form factor can be deployed in nearly any system. This accelerator is perfect for customers who need more than two displays, such as in financial services and process control."
The FirePro 2450 graphics accelerator is available now for $499 from system integrators and channel partners around the world.
AMD recently finalized the spinoff of The Foundry Company and says that it may outsource the production of ATI GPUs to GlobalFoundries in the future.
