Apple says "Screw You Guys" to South Park creators

Apple's iPhone is the clear leader in the smartphone category and its App Store is doing exceptionally well with users downloading numerous applications for the iPhone and the iPod touch. Some of the apps have sold hundreds or even thousands of copies.

However, some app developers are finding that getting their proposed apps approved by Apple can be challenging. The latest App to get the denial letter from Apple was from South Park Digital Studios. The company behind the popular cartoon Series South Park wanted to sell an app on the App Store that would provide fans of the show with easy access to clips from episodes and other content.

Apple says that the application for the app was denied because the app could be "potentially offensive" to some users. The interesting part is that the App Store is chocked full of apps that make boobs jiggle in images and produce fart sound effects.

The studio says that it applied more than once for approval for its app, but that it was denied each time. The studio said in a statement, "At this point, we are sad to say, the app is dead in the water. Sorry, South Park fans."

Apple does say that its standards are evolving so the door is potentially open for a South Park app in the future. The studio didn’t specify if the app was intended to be free or a paid app. Apple says that since the App Store opened users hove downloaded 500 million apps in the last six months. Currently there are 15,000 applications on the App Store and the number continues to grow.

Apple was the subject of developer's ire not long ago when the company was placing rejection letters under NDA to keep developers from speaking out after being denied. Apple later came removed the NDA stipulation from rejection letters it sends out.

You can show them the middle finger all you want, as long as you keep buying their crap you are supporting them.
I just can't wait until Android becomes the standard OS for smartphone, and it will happen based on recent news from Motorola and Vodafone.

Until it gets Exchange sync through owa implemented it will never take off IMHO. With iPhone 1.0 it was not allowed to be purchased at all at our company, now I have over a dozen. If you don't want to waste money on a RIM server and have exchange it is the best device for the job IMHO. The WM6 phones are nice, but overall fluidity of the iphone beats them hands down.

Palm did a mediocre job of doing exchange with their devices; here's to them doing something with it this time.

Wait, the later version of multi-mail could work with it, though probably no one cared.

I also didn't think the new webos ran on Linux. But it does.
