Jobs hopes to return in June

Steve Jobs Takes Leave of Absence from Apple

It appears that the extent of Steve Jobs' health problems were greater than what was previously released to the public. Earlier this month, Jobs released a statement to the Apple community detailing his battle a hormone imbalance which caused him to lose weight.

At the time, Jobs stated that he would step aside should he feel that he could no longer serve as Apple's CEO. It appears that the day is here as Steve Jobs announced in a letter to Apple employees that he leave his day-to-day workload to focus on his health. Tim Cook will step in to fill Jobs' large shoes in his absence. Here is Jobs' letter in its entirety:

I am sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my family, but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought.

In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations, and I know he and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.

I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.

We won't delve into conspiracy theories about Jobs' health or who knew what when, but the whole DailyTech team wishes him the best in his road to recovery. And when June rolls around, we will gladly welcome him back into the news circuit complete with his black turtleneck, jeans, and tennis shoes.

How often do you do REAL work on a laptop without it plugged into a power source?
Does it change the fact that Macs are way more power efficient than PCs? Nope.
You lose and fall flat on your face
You lose, not me, because you buy PC no matter what, and you buy it because you only judge products by price, the lower the better for you.

I know what strengths Mac has over PC so I don't mind paying extra $$$ for extra comfort of having more portable, more thin and light and more energy efficient notebook with nice multitouch touchpad and other little pleasant things.

See, some people buy the cheapest crap, and some do conscious choice not to buy cheapest crap. You belong to the former category, 'cause you're a diehard PC-only user, and I belong to the latter 'cause I don't buy product just because it has the lowest price :P
nobody uses a 17" laptop as a true laptop, I've never once seen anyone with a MacBook Pro out at starbucks
So you haven't seen someone in your local Starbucks and you made a conclusion that this "someone" does not exist. Hence because you haven't seen a penguin walking into your Starbucks you pretend penguins don't exist :))) You must be either really dumb or just trying to pull my leg.
You get a faster CPu, faster and bigger HDD, and more memory standard with a Windows based laptop
Yeah, like putting a larger engine in a car makes it a better car. Suuuure. By your logic all cars must have had twin turbo charged V12 by now. Why they don't have V12 then? Maybe because your logic is as dumb as yourself and CPU/HDD/RAM is less important in a laptop these days? Just like horsepower is not that important in cars. Ever heard word "comfort"? I think not!
If you're looking at 17" you aren't concerned with uber portability which is where you'd need a long battery life
And if you look for a moderately powerful and large car you aren't concerned with its size and engine power/fuel consumption, so why don't you get a Freightliner semi-trailer or something? Why look for portability, you can either choose a mini car like Yaris, or a 12-wheel semi. Nothing in between! No portable and POWERFUL cars (i.e. pickup trucks) for you! What an idiot. I can't believe you are that lame. You just throw away portability because nothing among equally powerful PC 17" notebooks is even remotely close to MBP 17" combination of power, efficiency and light weight, not even starting about thickness. Buy your cheapest crap, you're welcome. But if you don't have $$$ to afford comfortable car or notebook this doesn't mean they are overpriced, got it?
maybe because the Apple system is gimped internals with a fancy case
Or maybe because you lost your brain in the process of buying too much of a cheapest crap you can find. That's much more likely reason ;-)
