Wrath of the Lich King breaks day one sales records

When it comes to the world of video games on the PC, some of the most popular games available are MMORPG titles. These same titles also offer the most profitability for the game studios thanks to monthly subscriptions and intense fan bases for the titles.

Blizzard recently launched the second expansion pack for the wildly popular World of Warcraft MMO called Wrath of the Lich King. Blizzard officially acknowledged this week that Lich King has broken the sales record to become the top selling PC game ever in its first 24 hours of release.

Lich King sold a whopping 2.8 million copies in its first 24 hours of availability. Interestingly, the previous first place for day one sales was the first expansion pack for World of Warcraft called The Burning Crusade.

The subscriber base for World of Warcraft is massive at 11 million players globally making the title the crown jewel in the Blizzard games catalog. Blizzard says that over 15,000 stores opened at midnight globally to participate in the launch of Wrath of the Lich King.

Unlike some popular midnight launch events, there are no reports of anyone being shot waiting to get a copy of the game. However, one boy in Europe did collapse after playing the expansion for 24 hours straight without taking a break or eating. Some UK officials and parents fear that the game is too addictive for young players to handle.

okay jojo29, sp33dk1lz

Don't compare consoles unless WOW is playable on them.
You can't ding the 360 for the cost of Live, because it's not exclusive to only madden, and jojo nice try my friend but you are forgetting the $80 you shell out for the games themselves. That puts it up there right at the top with the Madden 360 and live factored in every year.

I'm really trying to level here and get you guys so let's run the numbers.

Subscription(3 yrs) = 14.99(36) = 539.64
WOW + TBC = 79.98
Total = 619.62

add WotLK and 1year = 219.87

that's

31 PC Games@$19.99(reduced)
15 PC Games@39.99(launch)

Is WOW worth 15 - 31 games over 3 years?

add WotLK and 1year = 219.87

4 year total damages = 839.49

Verdict: $$-wise, Rip-off not worth it. Refute this your an idiot. Your playing it because you like it or addicted. Content-wise how time do you actually spend enjoying it vs. other games.

Where are you getting $80 dollars from?

WoW and TBC can be had for $40 bundle + $40 for Wrath?

Also, $72 dollars is what you pay for a years worth of game time ( somewhere around there, i pay i believe yearly, can't recall off hand)

And the reason we are comparing consoles is because to me a game is a game no matter which console/system...

yeah, if you are disregarding the fact that WoW and TBC cost $40 each at the time of their release.

$72?? I'm pretty sure my friends would be interested to know how you get away with paying $6/mo. for a WoW subscription, all 14 of them.

In any time the cost of consoles vs pc are weighed against each other the console gaming is almost always more expensive, when you consider games cost more due to the added cost of media, console itself, peripherals, access fees, television. too easy.

I think is either $72 or $75 bucks, when you pay for a whole year's worth upfront. I have it on a re-curring credit card, if you call yearly recurring.
