230% price premium for SATA interface

I can get an EIDE internal Lightscribe DVD-RAM/+/-R/RW for $50. Is the SATA interface really that expense to warrant a 230% price premium. I am betting Plextor is going after a niche market where deep-pocket dopeheads want bragging rights.

First off, you're paying a pretty hefty premium for the Plextor name and software package. You're really only looking at a $30 increase for the SATA connectivity. Look at PX-740a vs PX-716sa.
Don't these drives require a fairly modern OS? Could they boot a Windows XP install disk or a Linux installer?
