The new Google tool  (Source: Google)
Google wants to help users think before drinking and e-mailing

Although it may be a lot of fun in the moment, drunken e-mailing can sometimes leave people in an embarrassing or harmful position.

"Sometimes I send messages I shouldn't send," Google Gmail engineer Jon Perlow said in a blog. “Like the time I told that girl I had a crush on her over text message. Or the time I sent that late night email to my ex-girlfriend that we should get back together. Gmail can't always prevent you from sending messages you might later regret, but today we're launching a new Labs feature I wrote called Mail Goggles which may help."

To help alleviate this problem and maybe prevent you from emailing your ex, Google recently launched Mail Goggles, a new tool designed to force Gmail users to answer a few easy math problems before being able to send an e-mail.

Google set the service to default to start on Friday and Saturday evenings, but users have the ability to alter what days it operates, the level of math asked, and several other basic features.  Goggles can be found in the "settings" section, under the "labs" option

The math problems need to be answered correctly in a certain amount of time, or the email cannot be sent.

Even if it's not the most effective tool in the world, I still got a kick out of it.

Just one problem...

The people who would benefit the most could do these problems drunk. No one drinks more than engineering, math, and comsci majors.

And many other people are incapable of answering those math questions sober without a calculator. Don't believe me? Go to a job fair for cashier's jobs at somewhere like Universal studios. When I was 16 and went and applied to work there, the majority of the people applying (both young and somewhat older) couldn't do their basic math test without cheating by using a calculator.

guaranteed most of us would fire up a calculator if we were really hell bent on sending off angry emails to ex's

That's why this game is unpopular. Crappy graphics don't help, either.

This seems like a challenge to see how drunk you have to be to fail. That will be one more of my hobbies to make my wife mad. I can hear me now "go get me a drink dear. I can't walk but I can still pass this damn test."
