GTA IV on PS3 vs.
Xbox 360
For those fortunate enough to own both consoles, the question burning on many
minds is which version to buy. Surely the hardcore fan already owns his or her
copy of the game, but those waiting for a definitive answer on which version is
superior likely won’t find the decision easy to make. Comparison videos show that
both versions appear almost identical, while other hands on give slight
edge to the PlayStation 3 version. Perhaps the best answer is to just buy
whichever one your friends have so that you can play online with them.
GTA IV Xbox 360
DLC This Summer?
One big factor Microsoft was counting on was that gamers would choose an Xbox
360 over a PlayStation 3 because its platform’s version of GTA IV would come
with the promise of exclusive DLC. That downloads may arrive sooner than
expected. According to comments made by GTA’s infamous radio show host Lazlo,
the Xbox 360 could see the DLC as soon as this summer, while also adding that
the PS3 might receive something of its own too.
GTA IV Freezing on
Some Consoles
While the majority of gamers who have picked up Grand Theft Auto IV are
reporting nothing but an exceptional gaming experience, not all is perfect.
Some are reporting the game is freezing during early cutscenes, where the game’s
visuals will refuse to advance while the audio continues. Rockstar support acknowledged
this problem, which apparently affects both PS3 and Xbox 360 version, but
is more common on 60GB PS3 consoles. Rockstar has yet to officially address
this issue.
Jack Thompson Owns
Grand Theft Auto IV
It’s unknown if it’s in his possession solely for the purpose of spreading
misinformation about the game, but he’s
got his hands on a copy of GTA IV.
Duke Nukem Forever
Seen by Outside Eyes
Even though it’s still the butt of many vapourware jokes, 3DRealms assures
everyone that Duke Nuken Forever is still a real product in development. To
help prove this, the developer invited Shacknews to view
actual gameplay of DNF running on actual computer hardware, showing gameplay
scenarios, mechanics, and environments. “We actually got to see...environmental
puzzles and interactivity, a host of finished weapons, the existence of an
in-game forklift, and plenty of heads and arms being blown off,” wrote
Shacknews owner Steve “sCary” Gibson. “We both confidently agree that after
seeing this demonstration, Duke Nukem Forever is looking great, and will easily
stand apart from the crowd in both visual and gameplay styles.”
Converter Allows PS2
Guitars on PS3
The whole business of guitar incompatibility for Rock Band on PlayStation 3 is
a difficult point for gamers. Thankfully, accessory maker The Ant Commandos has
released
a converter which will allow PS2 Guitar Hero guitars to work correctly on
the PlayStation 3, be it on Guitar Hero III or Rock Band. The handy accessory
retails for $19.99.
