Grand Theft Auto IV is the top story on all accounts, even for Jack Thompson

GTA IV on PS3 vs. Xbox 360
For those fortunate enough to own both consoles, the question burning on many minds is which version to buy. Surely the hardcore fan already owns his or her copy of the game, but those waiting for a definitive answer on which version is superior likely won’t find the decision easy to make. Comparison videos show that both versions appear almost identical, while other hands on give slight edge to the PlayStation 3 version. Perhaps the best answer is to just buy whichever one your friends have so that you can play online with them.

GTA IV Xbox 360 DLC This Summer?
One big factor Microsoft was counting on was that gamers would choose an Xbox 360 over a PlayStation 3 because its platform’s version of GTA IV would come with the promise of exclusive DLC. That downloads may arrive sooner than expected. According to comments made by GTA’s infamous radio show host Lazlo, the Xbox 360 could see the DLC as soon as this summer, while also adding that the PS3 might receive something of its own too.

GTA IV Freezing on Some Consoles
While the majority of gamers who have picked up Grand Theft Auto IV are reporting nothing but an exceptional gaming experience, not all is perfect. Some are reporting the game is freezing during early cutscenes, where the game’s visuals will refuse to advance while the audio continues. Rockstar support acknowledged this problem, which apparently affects both PS3 and Xbox 360 version, but is more common on 60GB PS3 consoles. Rockstar has yet to officially address this issue.

Jack Thompson Owns Grand Theft Auto IV
It’s unknown if it’s in his possession solely for the purpose of spreading misinformation about the game, but he’s got his hands on a copy of GTA IV.

Duke Nukem Forever Seen by Outside Eyes
Even though it’s still the butt of many vapourware jokes, 3DRealms assures everyone that Duke Nuken Forever is still a real product in development. To help prove this, the developer invited Shacknews to view actual gameplay of DNF running on actual computer hardware, showing gameplay scenarios, mechanics, and environments. “We actually got to see...environmental puzzles and interactivity, a host of finished weapons, the existence of an in-game forklift, and plenty of heads and arms being blown off,” wrote Shacknews owner Steve “sCary” Gibson. “We both confidently agree that after seeing this demonstration, Duke Nukem Forever is looking great, and will easily stand apart from the crowd in both visual and gameplay styles.”

Converter Allows PS2 Guitars on PS3
The whole business of guitar incompatibility for Rock Band on PlayStation 3 is a difficult point for gamers. Thankfully, accessory maker The Ant Commandos has released a converter which will allow PS2 Guitar Hero guitars to work correctly on the PlayStation 3, be it on Guitar Hero III or Rock Band. The handy accessory retails for $19.99.

I have a 60gb PS3 model

It froze once on me when I picked up Michelle for the first date, during the video of Niko and her interacting in her apartment. The audio kept going but the video definitely stopped once they tried to walk out the door.

I looked up this problem online reading how some people were told to uninstall the game and all saved content and to reinstall everything and start from scratch. I decided to try the game again before doing this and it hasn't frozen since.

Side note though, during extended gameplay and some of the longer video scenes there are very brief stutters that happen VERY rarely and they are very brief. During my playtime of 3 hours yesterday I probably had 2 in game and 2 video stutters in about 3 hours.

Other side note:

This game is awesome, single player and online. The graphics are unbelieveable and the game play is great. Not to mention all the small details they put in the game.

Example, while playing online I drove top speed into an opponent and rammed him into a bus stop. I definitely killed him, but as a result of the impact my character flew out through the front windshield and skidded along the pavement for a couple feet.

I've had that happen in single player too. Jacked a corvette style car and took off too fast so I doubt poor Niko got to put on his seat belt. Was funny as hell when I hit a concrete barrier at top speed and he flew right through the windshield.

LMAO! Thats awesome! I haven't done that yet....Niko you're going through the windshield tonight...

I did run off a ledge in a Ford Bronco type car and land nose first pretty much. Yeah the car didn't work anymore and he rolled out.

Try as I might last night doing free mode multiplayer with a couple friends, I could not get Niko to go through the windshield of a car. I hijacked one of the fastest cars I've found and slammed right into a wall. Just hit the wall and came to a stop. Does it not work in multiplayer?

The original post said it happened to him in multiplayer, so I'm assuming so. In all the crashes I've been in, I've only seen it happen twice. Last night it was in a convertible and I hit a bridge support in the area right near the first safehouse.

Yeah, I did that on my 60GB PS3 and as his lifeless body went through the windshield and hit a wall, the game froze. I had to reset the PS3, no controller buttons would work at all.

I was thoroughly entertained just watching Republican Space Rangers and driving around listening to the banter on WKTT (I definitely loled when I heard the word "Aggro'd" come out the speakers). Also I suck at bowling, but I did get the achievements for QUB3D and darts. I haven't even played the multiplayer or tried to do much in the campaign and I still love it.

Yeah, my roommate has the 360 version and he hasn't noticed any skips at all either. My other roommate has the 40GB PS3 model and his didn't skip either when he started playing it last night. I am thinking it has something to do specifically with the 60GB model, oh well though, I can still play and that is all I care baout.

Makes me glad I did buy the 360 version after reading of the issues specifically with the 60GB PS3 since thats the one I have.

I have yet to have any skips or locks, but that would really annoy me in this type of game. I am not a big fan of a limited save system to begin with and prefer to be able to save at any time, but having a chance of losing progress like that would really irk me.
