Grand Theft Auto IV to rock videogames this Tuesday

Even though it’s not the holiday season, this week will have some of the biggest releases of 2008. On the high-def console side, you have Grand Theft Auto IV – which from early impressions is already in the running for game of the year. The requisite Mario Kart iteration for Wii is already on store shelves, each packed with the free-floating Wii Wheel accessory.

The main issue with PC releases is simply this: you have to make sure it works with EVERY possible configuration out there: AMD GPU and CPU, Intel GPU and CPU, nVidia GPU, ATI GPU, motherboards, ram, HDDs, etc. etc. etc. With consoles, if it works for one PS3, it'll work on all PS3s. If it works for one 360 (assume no RROD), it'll work on all 360s. If it works on PC, it might not work for others. That and Microsoft and Sony probably paid Rockstar not to release on PC initially.
