Sony announces PlayStation 3 packed with Grand Theft Auto IV

Along with Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Theft Auto IV is one of the biggest titles yet for PlayStation 3 – the only difference with MGS4, of course, is that GTA IV isn’t a platform exclusive. But that’s not going to stop Sony from treating GTA IV as one of its very own, and creating a new system bundle around the highly-anticipated title.

Announced today by both Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and Australia is an official Grand Theft Auto IV bundle that will pack the game in along with the 40GB PlayStation 3 model. “We are delighted to offer the millions of PS3 and GTA fans the ultimate gaming package,” said David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

Unfortunately for those hoping to get the latest DualShock 3 controller model with the new bundle, Sony indicated that the GTA IV bundle will include the outgoing SIXAXIS controller only. Such news may be the most disappointing for Australian gamers, who will have to purchase the DualShock 3 controller separately for a mindboggling AUD$99 (USD$92) when it releases this week. Gamers in Europe have yet to hear of an official launch date for their rumbling controllers.

The Grand Theft Auto IV PlayStation 3 bundle will retail in Europe at €439 (USD$696) and in Australia for AUD$749.95 (USD$715).

Gamers also considering paying the premium for the Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition game package will want an early sneak-peek of the game from an unknown retailer.

I don't get why......

This game has such a huge fan base. Game play is absolutely terrible with the horrid controls. Maybe it'll be better this time around, but I played my brother's copy of the last one and didn't like it at all. Gave it a far shot too, at least a couple of days. Just couldn't get past the controls.

Who the hell would wanna emulate a gangsta living in the ghetto anyways. Guess there are more suburban preteen "gangsta " kids than I originally thought. The whole Russian concept is definitely a step up from the last version.

Honestly I didn't get into San Andreas as much either. But honestly that was because I was out of college and starting to get off the PC gaming trip. Now I more enjoy being able to lay back on the couch and play. I sit in a chair in front of a computer all day at work. I don't want to do it when I go home and feel like gaming.

I never found the controls in San Andreas to be a problem though. They've been pretty much the same since GTAIII.

i felt similar when i first got gta san and

only played like an hour, seemed to gangsta for me, and I just finished off most of vice city extra's right before. So I was a bit overloaded on GTA.

But recently beat mass effect and while waiting a new game to get. I put in GTA SA back in the ps3. Beat the whole story, game was actually really really good, great story.

And what would you rather play?
A plumber that eats mushrooms and rides on a dinosaur? Mario
A fox that flies around in space with other animals? StarFox

And if you are not into the cartoon games and want more human-like games...
You can play a space captian fighting aliens, Halo
Or play a space captian fighting aliens, Mass Effect

So again, what was the purpose of your comment? Everyone enjoys different types of games, and just because its based in the "ghetto" (which is reality for some) does not mean its a trashy game for "preteen 'gangsta' kids".

Quit being so closed minded.
