SanDisk Sansa Fuze  (Source: Gizmodo)
Amazon sales page goes up early for Sansa Fuze and gets pulled quickly

The market for MP3 players is very hot and fiercely competitive. The market leader is the Apple iPod and some reports put SanDisk in the number three spot with its line of Sansa MP3 players.

Amazon.com was hasty in putting up a page for ordering the new and unannounced Sansa Fuze portable media player (PMP). Since the story broke over the weekend, the offending page has been purged from the Amazon.com website. However, before the page was removed, Gizmodo was able to copy some of the pictures and get details on the new device.

The Sansa Fuze will have a 1.9-inch screen and memory expansion with microSD/microSDHC cards. Other features on the player will include a voice recording function via the built-in microphone. File formats supported include MP3, WMA, and MPEG-4. An FM tuner is integrated into the Fuze as well.

Pricing according to Amazon was $99 for a 4GB Fuze. Battery life is promised to be 24 hours with audio and 5 hours for video on a charge. The player is small with measurements of 2.2 x 1.5 x 0.6 inches. The color shown in the images is red and Gizmodo says that black and pink versions were listed as well.

One of the main competitors to the SanDisk Sansa line is the Creative’s Zen family. SanDisk offers a 32GB Sansa View and Creative announced a 32GB Zen for those looking for an Apple alternative with lots of storage space and a semi-reasonable price tag.
