Microsoft is now Danger's middle name

Microsoft dug deep into its pocketbook recently with the offer to buy Yahoo for the large sum of $46 billion -- that offer was rejected. Microsoft, however, announced a purchase today that was much easier to finance.

Microsoft says that it agreed to purchase Danger Inc., the company best known for the Sidekick mobile device. Microsoft president of Entertainment and Devices Division Robbie Bach said in a statement, “Microsoft is a global leader with our Windows Mobile software and expanding mobile services. The addition of Danger serves as a perfect complement to our existing software and services, and also strengthens our dedication to improving mobile experiences centered on individuals and what they like.”

Microsoft says that Danger Inc. has connected with a young and enthusiastic customer base that is Internet-savvy and socially inclined. The purchase is expected to add additional assets and resources to Microsoft’s entry into the consumer space.

Danger Inc. chairman and CEO Henry R. Nothhaft said, “Danger continues to provide an effortless and fun mobile experience for consumers. Now by combining our uncompromised application software and powerful back-end service with Microsoft, we can expand our innovative service offerings even further and take mobility to a new level.”

The terms of the Microsoft purchase are unknown at this time. It doesn’t take any insider information to know after the purchase of Danger, a Sidekick running Windows Mobile will be just around the corner.

Microsoft should pass on buying Yahoo

The real thing for Microsoft here is to gain market share away from Google. Yes they gain internet market share by buying Yahoo but that doesn't decrease Google's internet share. So buying Yahoo doesn't do Microsoft any good in gaining away internet traffic from Google.

Microsoft bought a decent domain name to replace MSN called and all they need to do is put a catchy commercial program to the name instead of buying Yahoo. Heck Yahoo holding out for more money is just that Yahoo is acting like a bunch of Yahoo's. Microsoft I suggest you dont buy them just learn to be smarter.

I bet you the problem with Microsoft market share is just getting the name out there.

"Dont just surf the internet LIVE IT at LIVE.COM by Microsoft" Catchy tune in the background with people doing stuff they normally do on Google. MAPS/DIRECTIONS, Finding Stuff, ETC, Etc. Find out the top 5 things people do on google and demonstrate people doing that on LIVE.COM.

Has anyone seen a commercial for Microsoft Live? How many never heard of it until this post?

I would like to point out something and that's Microsoft advertising group is trash. In fact its best was Windows 98 but since then its been trash. If it weren't for game companies pushing games on the 360 Microsoft would have dropped the ball on the console. Its why the Zune doesn't sell nearly as well as an iPod. POOR MARKETING/ADVERTISING!!!

Why is IE still pointing to MSN? Start pointing it to LIVE.COM! Instead they have a stupid little plug in on the MSN page. is a much better name. It can be used in a sentence like google it. You can say Live it! Nobody will say MSN it.

Hmm this is the first time I've heard of it. That's actually a pretty awesome site. I love all the tons of images on the image page. And the maps is fast and I like the set up. I might start using this instead of google.

The only thing is their live page dogs really slow when clicking at times. Like it's way to bloated.

I think you simplify the situation a little too much. I've never seen a google advertisement, yet they are dominating.

Look to the right. Up a little. Little more. Thats a google ad.

I've heard of them.

Hell, I had a ".net passport" before was even thought of. Them one day, they asked me to convert my passport to a Windows Live ID, and I did. The .net passport was the predecessor to

I personally don't use, but it's useful when I'm at a Microsoft site ( is an MS site for all you Halo fans.) and I don't have to register, just login and go.

You can say Live it

Maybe, except that it's pronounced like "hive" and not like "give"

"Live it" (pronounced correctly) sounds awkward.

Then they should change it. "Live a little better"
