Please Apple...

Can't we all just get along?!

Apple, you're becoming a disgrace to legitimate business. As if you haven't violated patents or stolen from other companies. Disgusting.

I agree with Jason Mick, It's all deja vu for Apple and they know they won't compete, hence they count on litigation.

UK courts, please ban Apple imports instead this time.

So touch screen designs need to have huge keyboards according to the court?

I should have patented touch screen or high resolution gear.
Hey , you have to run 320x240. Anything over that is my intellectual property, I spent minutes (and need your billions billions) to come up with
that orgiginal idea.

Bingo and yet people don't understand that the "lone wolf" approach leads to loneliness. Apple's closed environment gives them great control, however, that control dooms them to a niche market ala PC, smartphones and soon tablets.....

I agree they make great products (largely due to the control they have over their small ecosystem), however, I won't own their products until they stop doing this type of stuff....

It's probably worse than you think. I can't go into too many details as I don't know how much they very from company to company, but they try to rule over you with an iron fist if you are going to supply them.
They pretty much make no concessions or guarantees on their part, but demand that you give them everything. I'm not willing to say much more given their litigious nature, they're probably trying to figure out who each of us are as well that disagree with their supply contracts.

Samsung MAKES components for Apple devices for christ sakes, and they turn around a sue a business partner over this silliness? This is just insane. Someone needs to make them stop.

And for all you people like Tony supporting Apple in this, it's refreshing to see such hypocrisy. You slammed Microsoft for decades for being a monopoly, but have no problem supporting your Apple trying to sue to be the sole provider of tablets on the planet.

Party for one, granted, but still...

You can want a monopoly, but you can't technically have one.

Maybe you'd only be happy if everyone else designed grey tablets with plenty of front mounted buttons (because despite being like the Star Trek PADD from First Contact, it wouldn't bear any resemblance to an iPad... right?). And, for the final time, Apple have ADMITTED to stealing ideas shamelessly. Who developed the first smartphone? Clue: it wasn't Apple.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... you can't talk sense in to a delusional nutcase, who's busy wanking to Steve Jobs and Phil Schiller (last reference taken from Tony's post below).
All he read was blah blah blah "it wasn't Apple", and there sets off the rage of red.
None the less, thanks for feeding the troll, as I look forward to the manically funny insanity to follow. :-p

Oh, so what you're saying is, this is Apple confronting Google (or rather, in a misguided fashion, anyone but Google) with a razor blade before it runs off and cuts off a part of its own left ear lobe?

There are literally countless examples everywhere of people taking inspiration for something, and there are literally countless examples of downright fabrications. Food, drink, consumer goods, cars... yet there's been a lot less fuss in general than we're getting now with Apple trying to protect something despite, by its own admission, stealing ideas for these very products in the first place. Competition is a healthy thing. Why can't you and other Applephiles grasp this?

There is little evidence that Apple builds "better". Yes, some Apple devices look exceptionally nice, some weigh very little, some are very easy to use, and so on, but let's not forget that this is the company that was pedalling Core2 Duo machines until last year as if they were new technology. This is the company that got into hot water over its product names (iPhone and iPad aren't even Apple names, and did anybody at Apple - ironically - bother checking the Patents Office?). This is the company that, somewhat amusingly, tried to sue a small Australian company who wanted to put DOPi on their own range of Apple laptop bags and cases (tried, and failed). This is the company that didn't even invent the smartphone. This is the company that was once accused of trying to provide discounts to Apple stores to the detriment of independent retail outfits that stocked Apple products. This is the company that tried to sue New York City over the use of an apple logo, claiming it would serve to confuse (as if). This is the company that doctors imagery to gain injunctions against competitors for producing competing devices by making them appear almost identical.

Put simply, this is the company that "invents" an idea then sues the crap off anyone else for coming out with anything similar. I won't deny that Apple products would have been inspiration for both Android as well as Android-using products, and I won't deny that Apple have released some very significant devices, but suing companies based off a concept is ridiculous to say the least. It's like suing over how many wheels a car should possess. What's more, Apple lock you into their products with their closed ecosystem; why on earth would anybody want to leave such a perfect scenario (!)? By eliminating its competition, Apple is not only ensuring that people stay in that loop, but it will harm innovation as well - who will try to enter a market monopolised by a single company when there's little hope of success? What impetus is there for Apple to improve its products? Imagine the processor market if AMD were forced out by Intel - would we even be on the 2nd generation Core processors, let alone the 1st?

I've got a quote for you, too:

Think for yourself.

By Da W on 9/15/2011 8:44:45 AM , Rating: 2
Technically if the patent system worked as it was supposed to, only one company in the world could make a touch screen device for the next 20 years. Wouldn't be apple though, but they did invent all these multi-finger gestures first.

Behave like a Man Apple please...

So shiny toy maker Apple has to resort to trying to destroy the competition. Next Apple will probably declare it invented air. To me its a sign of a failing company and I hope Apple gets its come-uppance. I certainly won't buy any of their shiny toys and I hope that Apple gets knocked down a peg or two.

Come on Apple, GROW SOME BALLS - competition is fair and leads to great products.

What was is Steve Jobs said “We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas” - That just about sums up Apple.

Just be grateful that Apple aren't in the biotech industry.

They'd probably grow some balls, then claim a patent on them and not allow you to use your own unless you pay them a royalty, or ban you from bringing them in through customs if you leave the country :o)

By Helbore on 9/15/2011 5:48:32 AM , Rating: 2

Way to compete in a chickensh** way Apple. You already have a strong brand image, more cash than the U.S. Treasury and tremendous customer loyalty. Yet you seem to be afraid of competitors like Samsung and HTC. How about you grow a pair and let your innovative products do the b**ch slapping?!

Multi-touch, scrolling, pinch to zoom and auto zoom does not belong to iOS or Apple either, so your argument is fud. All of these features are obvious before Apple used them in their products. Software patents are mute at this point, so license fees will not hold true.

What Apple is doing is kicking out its competition instead of just playing ball. Apple is in the process of killing Android because Apple is fighting the parent of Android which is Google.

Apple has relevant patent for Multi touch on mobile devices incl. swiping across screen and those are the strongest of it's litigation against Samsung in Netherlands(for which they are temp. banned) and HTC in US.

But let them have it no concern. There are hundereds of soulution to any problem. It's only effort that is required to discover it and that's exactly what companies are not doing. They are blindly following the Apple's lead in making a product. Thereby buying Apple a new pair of Boots(new Product)to kick Google's butts. COMEON GOOGLE SHOW YOUR TALENT.

Apple's business tactics is very, very childish. So what your competitor is copying off your design. Technically it is not the same. If I was a president of USA, I would provide two choices for Apple. One is stop banning your competitors or be kicked out of the country. Apple is an American made company and it is stating a bad image for my country, so there are damages that the government needs to collect.

Ok, Firstly, go answer your door. It's Wal-mart knocking. They want to talk to you about your assertion that Apple even plays in the same ball park as they do, when it comes to 'most successful retail operations'...

Just a second, I need a moment to catch my breath...from laughing.

Whew. Okay. Now, Tony Swashtika, since you refused to take my earlier suggestions to either euthanize yourself, or get a vasectomy, to heart, AT LEAST put down the crack pipe?

(and they have the patents, the lawyers and the will to do a whole lot)

Um... what patents? Netherlands said "no". Germany wasn't won on patents, it was Community Design. Everything else is currently here-say until rulings are finally made (which can't come soon enough)
Apple has it's OS (iOS), but most everything else is someone else's technology. Samsung being a huge provider of such tech. "oh the sweet irony"!
Maybe the galaxy and Samsung won't become #1 after all of this... but Apple doesn't have the balls or the knowhow to take this all the way to mass market/monopoly. Apple will be relegated back to their niche corner soon enough. Though they're big at current stats, the trend is already happening for the iPhone, and as all historians will tell you "history repeats itself".
None the less, this whole apple/legal quagmire has been significantly more entertaining than anything Hollywood has put out in the last 10yrs.

Your post is implying that Apple is a hypocrite. We already have proof that Jobs is "shameless about stealing others ideas" yet they don't want anyone stealing from them.

Apple did not invent anything original in the past 15 years. MP3 players existed before the iPod. Tablets existed before the iPad. Smart phones have been around a long time too. The only thing Apple did was make it fashionable and hip to own these, especially smart phones and tablets. Those were seen as "serious businessmen gadgets" and therefore "uncool" before.

Problem with you Tony , taking your points , pirks, iphonedevguy is your heads so far up apples ass I am sad to say surgery wouldn't remedy the situation.
Apple has disgusted me and alot of others I know. People who don't even stay on top of tech are now bitching about apples suing.
To. Think I used to fight the MS fanboys for attacking apple. I did this becuase I give proper respect to companies for what they have brought to the consumer space.
You tout Steve jobs name but I never hear you once accredit steve woznaik.becuase even jobs long time friend from school woznaik was feed up with Steves bullshit could that be the reason? You know woznaik still receives a check from apple to this day and is listed as employee.
I fought against people attacking apple with the iPhone design of touch screen PDA device. I was about to buy a lg prada but when I heard the news of what apple was doing I watched their keynote and decided to wait and buy my $800 phone after tax. I prevously owned blackberry 8800, nokia n95, and to many to list.
But I am not a over zelous fan idot, when I see bullshit I call it out. The idea of touchscreen captured the market much needed company's entered the market to do battle. The free market spoke. And the free market decided. What apple is doing is no diffrent then what standard oil, bell labs have done with trying to control the free market. He'll the government helped bell labs (AT&T) become a monopoly in the past then seen the harm and forced them apart to protect consumers from lack of innovation.
You spout this crap of copy this copy that. There are only so many ways to make certain devices. Touch screen phones tablets prime example flat thin/fat. What about a LCD tv? Thin longer with then hieght. What about a motor vehical knowtist how dodge , crysler , GM trucks hAve all the same general shape with diffrent headlights grills and hoods. Destop computers there's only certain way to make an atx or b atx case. Notebooks formaly called laptops only limited wats to make the device. I could go on forever from water bottles to chip bags.
You don't see ford suing for assemble lines. And ford like apple who did invent automobiles but Made them popular, you don't see ford suing everyone. The list can go on.
You say to stop bitching about apple copying the market I sorry to said other companies coping. Get your head out your ass all which is in os x was stolen from open source development of dolphin which I think Steve job deliberately released dolphin into the wild for this reason.
And the whole buying apple shut is not obligatory yet. It never will be no matter how much you want it to be.
Jesus people like you just make me want to shatter this fuckin iPhone 4 I am typing this post with. O yea the only monopoly that still works are items that actually are needed such ass Oil, energy , water , gas why because these items are needed for quality of life. And you should sit Down for a second your self. Becuase microsoft also falls under this category since almost all government and corporate servers run it. Corp rate and small buss use it dam near the entire consumer base uses it. This is not because it was forced upon us it's because the freemarkets spoke and decided.
I have never hated apple before. But this lawsuit has finally drove me away. I for one will never buy a apple product again nor will suggest it to the countless amounts of people I told "get and iPhone 4 since windows and androids market apps are still in their infancy and the app store is better" never will hear that again mainly becuase live market place and androids app catalog is sufficient now. When I do replace my iPhone 4 somewhere in 2012 it will not be with another apple product.
Maybe I'll make a YouTube video of the destruction of this iPhone and MacBook pro in my possession. So you can mourn the lost of plastic , metal and silicon. You fools are just as fanatical as playstation fanboys.
Good day Tony now go back to whacking away to Steves picture.
