The ZTE Nubia Z7 will include a Snapdragon 801 processor and 13MP camera

LG’s G3 smartphone has garnered a lot of attention due to its 2560x1440 (QHD) display. Although the display doesn’t quite impress in the real world as one would have hoped, the G3 is the current specs champion when it comes to flagship smartphones.

Chinese device maker LTE is looking to duplicate the specs of the G3 with its new Nubia Z7 flagship while at the same time offering it at a lower price. The Nubia Z7’s specs sound like a carbon copy of the G3 complete with a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 13MP rear camera (with optical image stabilization), and of course a 5.5” QHD display. ZTE also throws in a 5MP front-facing shooter, dual SIMs, 802.11ac Wi-Fi for good measure.

The Nubia Z7 will be priced at $550 off contract.

Two siblings will join the Nubia Z7: the Nubia Z7 Mini and the Nubia Z7 Max. The former comes with a 5” 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. The latter features a 5.5” 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 processor, and 2GB of RAM.

The Nubia Z7 Mini will feature an MSRP of $240 while the Nubia Z7 Max will be priced at $320.

This phone for $550 is so much less than the LG G3. Its less than $50 cheaper than the G3 at T-Mobile.

Yeah its really stupid that they lead with that model. I think the $240 5inch 1080p 801 2gb Ram version is the clear winner here.

Right? Directly compare that against the all conquering Sammy GS5 specs for less than half price. Theirs your wiener right there.

Yeah, usually you have to download the NSA app to get that! Or wait while they redirect your shipment and have it added in during a visit to an NSA warehouse.

Maybe it's time that the NSA just stop all the middle man stuff, and come out with their own branded phone?

Whats up with the "Max" name? Same size screen, worse specs across the board? Terrible marketing.

That does seem odd. maybe its an error? If I read this correctly it says

Z7:
5.5 inch 2560x1440 display
3GB RAM
32GB storage.

Z7 Max :
5.5 inch 1920x080 display
2GB RAM
16GB storage.

Z7 Mini :
5 inch 1920x080 display
2GB RAM
16GB storage.

OK, odd naming convention to have the "max" model be a lower spec, but I really like the concept of the different levels.

Bah, I missed one and a typo.

Z7 Max :
5.5 inch 1920x1080 display
2GB RAM
32GB storage.

Z7 Mini :
5 inch 1920x1080 display
2GB RAM
16GB storage.

So the "max" has lower res, less RAM but the same 32gb storage.

They've got the screen size wrong. Look at the dimensions

Z7 = 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 mm.

Max = 152.7 x 76 x 8.7mm

Mini = 140.9 x 69.3 x 8.2mm

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is 5.7" = 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3 mm

It seems to be the Max is probably a 5.7"

I think you are right. I bet the source listed above at GSM arena has a typo, or just a bad translation of the initial Chinese source. info.

I doubt it costs them more than $170 to manufacture.

Wow, $50 whole dollars less...

So I can get a practically-unknown-by-consumers-in-America Chinese smartphone from a company with a hit-or-miss track record... ORRRRR ... I could get a phone from a Korean company that produces everything under the sun and has a phenomenal track record...

Glad I already pre-ordered the G3 from T-Mobile.
