Software World Series of Video Games Announced

Another tournament allowing video gamers to try and win some prize money has been announced

As the video game industry continues to expand, so does the world of professional gaming.  Games Media Properties has announced the World Series of Video Games, a tournament that will offer a grand prize of $1 million USD to the winner.  The competition will start off in June in Kentucky with four stops throughout the year before the championship tournament in December.  Along with PC games, the Microsoft Xbox console will also be played at the WSVG.  Intel and Microsoft are the official sponsors of the event.  

It should be interesting to see if the WSVG will ever be able to compete with current gaming tournaments like the World Cyber Games.

Maybe Firefox issue? It doesn't show in Firefox but in IE it shows correct link. Please fix website to support Firefox.

Seems pretty promising...

That is of course presuming it doesnt become like the World Series of Baseball where all the teams are from the US.

Well, most Baseball teams have players that are non-us citizens so it is a "world series"

They should make it so you have to be 18 and have a social life. Otherwise, the winner will either be some 12 year old or some 40 year old hermit still living in his parents' basement.

This will just be like the world series of poker they hold in Las Vegas. Except all the participants will have the aroma of unshowered. And throw the contollers at each other when they lose. And the word girlfriend will be defined as "what? you mean this chick in dead or alive 4?". And that fatality dude will be pulling a Jay Sherman "BUY MY BOOK! BUY MY BOOK! BUY MY BOOK!".
