In and effort to increase user growth and revenue, Twitter is going heavy in video streaming.

Social Network Giant Twitter announced on Monday night that they have 16 streaming video partnerships with companies such as Bloomberg Medai (24-hour streaming news), BuzzFeed, PGA, Viacom, Vox Media, and the WNBA.

In the face of slow earnings, Twitter is betting on increasing collaborations with video partners to produce exclusive streaming of live events and exclusive original content that will only be available on Twitter. In the last quarter, Twitter had about 45 million unique users and hopes to increase user growth as well as revenue.

Twitter lost a bidding war with Amazon last month for rights to stream NFL's Thursday night games. Fortunately, Twitter still has a NFL partnership that includes live daily programming of NFL news, highlights, and analysis. Other sports ventures include NHL, MLB, NBA, WNBA, and the PGA.

"Paying an extra $500 for a computer in this environment -- same piece of hardware -- paying $500 more to get a logo on it? I think that's a more challenging proposition for the average person than it used to be." -- Steve Ballmer
