At least it'll work great as a astronaut costume for Halloween

At the Society for Information Display conference during early June, Toshiba presented a novel hyper-reality display called Head Dome Projector.  The projector consisted of a compact dome-shaped screen with a radius of 40cm, a mobile projector with ultra-wide projection lens, and LED light sources.

The system exhibits a wide viewing angle of 120 degrees horizontally by 70 degrees vertically without head tracking, and 360 degrees x 360 degrees with head tracking. We assume the head tracking feature is afforded by the fact that it sits right over your head.

We've been wondering for months what this contraption looks like, and today our questions are (somewhat) answered by a photo from the Daily Mail.

Um....WTF IS THAT?! That's by far the weirdest thing ive ever seen. I love the idea and all, but did they have to make it look that bulky and weird? Say hello to osteoperosis with that amount of weight on your neck and back...

I can't decide if she looks more like a spaceball, or like a dark version of that big-headed robot from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe".

Looks a bit bulky for a head mounted device, though. Does it have a support for itself?
