Several users were able to take screenshots of a leaked flash animation for TomTom's RIDER 2 GPS unit

Reports indicate that TomTom recently made an error in which the company mistakenly uploaded a flash animation for the RIDER 2 GPS unit on the company web site.  Even though TomTom removed the animation within hours of its posting, several viewers of the site were able to grab some screenshots, which have been published.

The RIDER 2 GPS unit, much like the original RIDER unit, is being designed for motorcycles and scooters.  Specifications and further details of the TomTom RIDER 2 are unknown, with the official TomTom web site not revealing any information about the new RIDER GPS product.

The original RIDER GPS unit was touted as "rugged, water resistant, fits both motorbikes and scooters and provides you even with clear spoken instructions in your helmet."

TomTom also manufactures GPS products for cars and other modes of transportation besides motorcycles.  The company recently stated that it will be able to accelerate its services to car makers after opening a research and development office in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.  Around a quarter of TomTom's entire work force is dedicated towards various R&D projects.

It was believed the company would make an official announcement about RIDER 2 soon, with the flash animation mistake possibly accelerating the likelihood of the announcement.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't been ready an article about this product if DailyTech didn't make it a "news" item.
