The next-gen Snapdragon 835 promises to be a big performer with all the big features that Qualcomm has packed into such a tiny package.

The Snapdragon 835 is Qualcomm’s first premium-tier 10-nanometer processor.  The 835 measures out to be 30 percent smaller than the 820.  This premium-tier processor reduces power consumption by 40 percent while operating at up to 27 percent faster speeds.

In addition to the features that the 835 brings with it is potential for manufacturers to have more space in the already cramp real estate inside current smartphones.  More space could translate into addition hardware innovations, and even larger more efficient batteries.

Quick Charge 4 is Qualcomm’s latest and greatest fast charging technology that is available with Snapdragon 835.  Quick Charge 4 provides faster charging and is designed to be more efficient and run cooler than prior generations. Compared to Quick Charge 3.0, Quick Charge 4 is up-to 20 percent faster, or 30 percent more efficient, while charging up to 5° C cooler.

Qualcomm sums all this up to 5 for 5.  Which basically means 5 minutes of charge gives you 5 hours or more of battery life.  A typical smartphone can be charged from zero to 50 percent in about 15 minutes or less.

In November of 2016, Qualcomm announced their collaboration with Samsung Electronics to use its “revolutionary 10nm FinFET process for the newly announced premium-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.
