Tesla Event Pushed to Wednesday
October 17, 2016 5:00 AM
We now have to wait until Wednesday to see what Tesla’s new product is all about. Still no word on exactly what we will be seeing.
Tesla fans found out on Sunday evening that the October 17
product announcement would be delayed two more days. Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk posted a message on Twitter that the Tesla announcement is moving to Wednesday because it “Needs a few more days of refinement.”
While there is still no word on exactly what this mysterious product on going to be, an article on the Wall Street Journal said that Tesla is boosting production of its Model 3 sedan and moving forward with a planned merger with SolarCity.

The Tesla Model 3 is a less costly electric car designed to complete with the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 and other sedans in that grouping. The Model 3 cost around $35K and will start selling in 2017.
The Tesla merger with SolarCity merger adds fuel to speculations that have surfaced of the previously announced plans to debut a new solar roof that was developed in conjunction with Solarcity.

Other thoughts are the mysterious new product is an add-on for the Tesla Autopilot system. Tesla’s Version 8 software will be rolling out soon and the mysterious new product would work along with Version 8 to improve customer safety.
Tesla vehicles currently have cameras to confirm visual image recognition. The onboard radar sensors only serve as secondary measures to help detect objects in the vehicle’s path. According to reports, it was this configuration that resulted in the Autopilot’s failure to identify and avoid hitting a white trailer against the bright sky. The Florida accident resulted in the death of Tesla Model S owner Josh Brown in May of this year.
A few more refinements is certainly a good thing. So the wait continues.
