No word on launch date for LTE Surface 2 tablet

Reports have been circulating that Microsoft is preparing a new variant of its Surface 2 tablet. Those reports have been confirmed courtesy of images featuring Surface 2 packaging with AT&T 4G LTE connectivity.
It appears that the 64GB version of the Surface 2 with LTE will sell for $679, which represents a premium of $130 compared to Wi-Fi-only version of the tablet. Interestingly, $130 is the same price premium that Apple charges for LTE versions of its iPad Air and iPad mini/iPad mini with Retina Display.

The Surface 2 with LTE connectivity will support 850/900/1800/1900 bands on 2G networks. It also supports 3G UMTS bands 1, 2, 5, and LTE bands 4, 7, and 17.
In other news, Microsoft is now taking pre-orders for its Power Cover for the Surface 2. This keyboard cover has an internal battery and promises to extend the battery life for the Surface tablet by 70% while keeping the screen protected.

The ship date for the Surface Power Cover is listed as March 19 and it will be priced at $199.99.
