Sprint "Simply Everything" plan details  (Source: Sprint)
And they mean everything!

It was only about two weeks ago that rumors around the wireless community sprang up about Verizon Wireless preparing to offer unlimited calling plan packages from the basic unlimited voice plans to the top tier plan adding unlimited texting, data and other Verizon Wireless exclusive features.

Soon after Verizon's official announcement, AT&T and T-Mobile jumped in on the party and announced similar plans that all went public and are now available to both new and existing customers. That left the fourth large wireless provider out of the mix until today.

Sprint announced today that, beginning tomorrow, February 28, it will be offering a $99 unlimited wireless plan that looks to offer more than the other providers. Sprint's "Simply Everything" plan offers unlimited voice, text messaging, e-mail, web surfing, Sprint TV and Music services, GPS navigation, Direct Connect and Group Connect -- for phones that support the features.

Dan Hesse, president and CEO, Sprint Nextel says "This is a bold move. Wireless today is about much more than just voice. It is about data services - texting, email, video, pictures, music, navigation, surfing the Web and more. Customers want these applications, but without complexity and without having to worry about their bill. The $99.99 Simply Everything plan delivers it all right to the palm of their hand now."

Sprint's "Simply Everything" plan supports both the CDMA and iDEN networks which is good news for Nextel customers as well. Similar to the recently unveiled unlimited plans from the other big name providers the "Simply Everything" plan is available to both new Sprint/Nextel customers with a 2-year contract as well as existing customers without a contract extension.

Sprint also offers modest discounts for multiple ordered lines under the "Simply Everything" package. Each additional line after the first line ordered will cost $5 less per month before taxes and fees.

Along with the "Simply Everything" plan, Sprint is offering unlimited text, GPS navigation, and data plans with two tiers of voice minutes. The "Everything 900" plan offers all of the add-on services but with 900 anytime minutes as opposed to the unlimited voice for $89.99. The "Everything 450" plan offers 450 anytime minutes, again, with all of the extra unlimited features. These two tiers offer unlimited nights and weekends as well as unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling among the Sprint community.

With Sprint's announcement today, all of the big names are all in on the unlimited calling plan, however, since Sprint has decided to include all of its add-on services in its "Simply Everything" plan it might help the troubled wireless provider get back in the wireless game and gain some new customers.

That's true, but with all the other things that they're offering, like unlimited text, data, and so on, it's still offering more than Verizon or AT&T. I've got Verizon and the unlimited plan they have for $99 just gets you unlimited voice. So I think Sprint's going to give Verizon and AT&T a run for their money.

I agree. This plan sounds great. If I weren't on a family plan already I would seriously consider this.

While Sprint used to be HORRIBLE in just about every catagory, they've really made some strides in the right direction lately in customer service, plan options, and phone choices. If they keep it up they just might keep me as a customer.

I pray you are joking. A monkey in a suit can run a better company than Sprint. About 4 months ago my dad called Sprint to get a reprint of the bill. He had to go through 4 different outsourced people and some even had the audacity to question why he wanted what he wanted. Before that, he had to get a lawyer on them so he could get a detailed call list to dispute a charge (because Sprint charges EXTRA for detailed calls). And ever since Sprint bought Nextel, I've had more success punching a hole in a brick wall than having 1 call go through to a friend of mine's Nextel. I'm not joking, I can count on one finger how many times my call went to the phone and not voicemail.

So I pray you are joking. Sprint defines lousy services.

all carriers customer service is retarded! sprint is better than t mobile in my opinion and i dont know about the rest. i have learned that the only thing you need to compare carriers is the service of the phone systems in your main area. sprint is the best in mine thats what i use.

The two plans offer 900 and 450 anytime minutes. Just what is unlimited voice because I think anytime minutes and unlimited voice are contradictions.

three plans.

unlimited = 99
900 = 89
450 = 45 ?

But you get unlimited text, web, etc. with all the plans. the 900 & 450 get nights & weekends free. Nice!

In comparison to ATT and Verizon's unlimited plans, this is a STEAL!

Verizon Unlimited Everything (txt, web, nav...etc) - $150/month

ATT Unlimited Everything (txt, web, nav...etc) - $135/month

You are saving $840 on a 2 year contract vs. ATT, and saving $1200 vs. Verizon!!! Thats a new computer, vacation, 1985 Honda Civic. What a great deal!

Sure they are offering all of those services at one simple price, but there are more things to consider than just price.

If all you care about is cost not quality, then you should be living in a cardboard box, eating cans of refried beans wearing newspapers for clothes. BECAUSE HEY.....IT WILL SAVE YOU SO MUCH MONEY. do some research as to the quality of the service before you buy something because it is a little cheaper.

A few more dollars in my pocket wont save my life or help out in an emergency, when my phone doesnt work and someone needs help. the other services cost more because they are far superior.
give sprint a shot, then give AT&T a shot, then give verizon a shot (forget t-mobile) lol you will stick with either AT&T or verizon.

By Staples on 2/28/2008 12:22:55 PM , Rating: 2
I need an EVDO card but I only need it for a few months. $60 a month is ok but I do not want to pay $200 for getting out of the plan early. If I can use a phone to do the same, then this might not be such a bad deal. Sure I will be paying for two years but at least I will have unlimited minutes and text messaging along with data.

You can. Get a Mogul.

Also, if you search the Sprint and/or hot deals forums, several people have been able to get a plan that's unlimited everything for $95 a month TOTAL for 2 lines, with a 3rd line costing $20 and a 4th costing $10. Yes...you read that right, you could potentially get 4 lines of unlimited everything for $125/mo - any corporate or loyalty discounts. Not bad. Getting this plan has been a major YMMV, though, but lots of people have.

If you dig through a couple pages you eventually figure out the unlimited the guy is talking about is within the Sprint network and not just anyone.

h0kiez

I don't think this is accurate. After calling Sprint about the "unlimited" plan, I received these figures.

1st line is $99.99
2nd line take off $5 of the additional $99.99
3rd line take off $15 of the additional $99.99

for a total of $279.97 for 3 lines which is a far cry from the figures you're talking about.

Verizon is offering Rev.A, evdo cards for $40 a month now. 50MB usage however. so if you dont need it a lot but still wan tthe fastest speeds out there. $40 a month for a 1 year contract. not too bad...

By Staples on 2/29/2008 9:43:11 AM , Rating: 2
Thanks for the info. In this case I would not be worried about the speed, 50mb a month is ridiculous. It would be ok for pop email only but for web use, that would be gone in a day or two.

After they add all the taxes and additional fees, the prie will be alot higher than $99.

Bills from other providers will be much higher than advertised as well.

Carriers should be forced to market plans based on the total amount due each month.

RE: more like $129
By PuravSanghani on 2/28/2008 12:27:41 PM , Rating: 3
That would prove to be extremely difficult since each state has their own tax rate, different fees, etc. I doubt a wireless provider would want to waste that much more money on marketing/advertising.

Purav

It must not be too difficult, they seem to get it figured out when they send the bill each month.

How do you propose they do that, with the taxes changing all the time? Taxes are never advertised in prices fella.

Sprint has been struggling ever since the Nextel merger. They have a long road to go before they can get back on track.

RE: Doubt it
By AlphaVirus on 2/28/2008 1:45:41 PM , Rating: 2
I had Sprint before for 4 years and UGH they are almost the worst service in my area. Besides the horrible customer service the reception sucked. I had a hard time getting 1 bar on the first floor of my house and only had 2 bars on the 2nd floor. While driving on the freeway it would randomly drop calls. When I had dropped calls I had a number programed in my phone, that Sprint provides, you call and get credited 5cents per dropped call.

I wonder if Tmobile is ever going to jump on this wagon with the rest as it would be a perfect family plan deal for me.

exactly. I barely use any features on my phone. Why should I when there's a nice fancy computer in front of me 20/7/365 ? If I don't have a computer with me, I like not doing computer things.

But yeah - if Sprint can do it, Verizon can too. I mean, It's the Network, right?

By MrX8503 on 2/28/2008 4:21:08 PM , Rating: 2
I'd rather be with a smaller phone company ie. Sprint vs Verizon with a slightly lower quality of service because Sprint being a smaller company would actually try to satisfy its customers. Ever try to talk to a verizon rep for things to be added to your plan? They dont give a jack crap what you want, they do what they want because they are the big boys.

Whereas Sprint pretty much does what you want with almost no questions asked, because they are trying to sustain/gain a large user base.

That to me is worth the smaller coverage area with sprint vs verizon.

By HimuraX03 on 2/29/2008 10:16:17 AM , Rating: 2
I'm with you on this one. Been a Verizon wireless customer for over a decade and I've had it with their service. I have 5 lines that I pay for and I still can't get a voicemail notification on my phone (yes it's enabled on the service). The wonderful support person always tells me it will take some time to activate and sends me away.

If it weren't for my wife's family being on Verizon (free V2V calls), I would have dropped them years ago. Now with plans like this, they can change their contacts to someone else to call her. I especially love the data plan for when I'm traveling and need to pull over to check into work, etc.

By nvalhalla on 2/28/2008 8:09:57 PM , Rating: 2
I have been a Sprint customer for a long time. They offer, if you bother to look around, a plan with unlimited texts, unlimited data and 500 anytime minutes with free nights and weekends starting at 7pm for $30 . I have it and with my PPC6700, I wouldn't switch to anyone else. I can tether to a PC and use the internet almost anywhere, at 700+ Kbps. I understand some people have problems with their signal, but I haven't had a dropped call in YEARS. Maybe I'm just lucky...

By nvalhalla on 2/28/2008 8:13:41 PM , Rating: 2
Of course, there's also free Sprint to Sprint, unlimited ready link, no long distance charges, no roaming charges, ect...

The problem with unlimited
By jak3676 on 2/28/2008 8:12:06 PM , Rating: 2
Does anyone know how unlimited, sprints "unlimited" plan truly is? I understand they probably don't want people on bittorrent 24x7, but some of the "unlimited" plans I've seen end up having a pretty small data cap per month.

RE: The problem with unlimited
By kyleb2112 on 3/3/2008 5:36:32 AM , Rating: 2
My question exactly. ISPs have been damn selective about their definition of "unlimited". I ran into Cox's bandwidth cap uploading videos for a family reunion--just the type of thing I got broadband for in the first place. Felt awfully like a "limit" when they shut me down and had me call their "Abuse Line" to get it switched back on. I thought I was being framed for child porn, but turns out I was just "Abusing" Cox's policy.

Where are you guys getting your information about the Everything 450 plan? That sounds more interesting to me but the press release you linked to has no information about it and there is nothing on the Sprint site about it. You list a price for the Everything 900 plan but nothing for the Everything 450 plan.

The Bait
By crzzymatt on 2/28/2008 12:40:58 PM , Rating: 2
These $99/month unlimited services seem like a way to bait customers into a 2 year agreement. This will have customers paying $99/month for a year after any "free" services that may come out after the 700Mhz release. Sprint has just release the best bait buy offering all services for one flat rate. Maybe it's just me and my hope of free services.

sprint? no kiding
By cellphoneslol on 2/28/2008 2:44:31 PM , Rating: 1
Yeah this sounds great... wanna know why? cuz Sprint's service friggin BLOWS. if they were better they wouldnt feel they had to undercut the competition by lowering the pric of their services. it's a pretty simple concept, actually. AT&T & Verizon have higher prices - they then spend more on their network - they have better service. End of story here: You get what you pay for. The cell phone industry is not exempt to this simple rule. 99% of the time, things cost more because they are better quality.

enjoy having a ton of services that you cant use and are of low quality. then go try Verizon.
